Your Life In Photos
Swap Coordinator:LetsStartARiot (contact)
Swap categories: Challenges  Photography
Number of people in swap:21
Location:International
Type:Type 3: Package or craft
Rating requirement:4.90
Last day to signup/drop:February 4, 2012
Date items must be sent by:March 5, 2012
Number of swap partners:1
Description:

This swap is a way to put your camera to good use. You will take a photo of the following things:

  1. Your house or room (or both!)
  2. Your family pet(s) [if you don't have any, try to take a photo of an animal anyway - perhaps a squirrel in the park, a neighbor's pet, a bird..]
  3. Your favourite spot in the city you live in
  4. The view outside of your window
  5. An unusual item/scene you come across (e.g. an oddly shaped tree, a very colourful vase, a cat chasing a dog)
  6. Your method of transportation (e.g. car, bike, bus, shoes)

As well as these, you will send 4 other photos which picture important things in your life, so you will have 10 photos in total. You can include a picture of yourself, but I understand if you do not want to. Please print these on photo paper, and make sure that your camera is good enough quality so that the photos are clear.

Along with the photos, you will write a short note explaining the scenes in the photos and why you like/dislike them.

When mailing your photos, put a cardboard backing in the envelope, so that the photos don't get bent. Another thing that would be best to do is to protect your photos by placing them inside a plastic baggie before putting them in the envelope, so that they don't get rain on them (I've had mail damaged from the rain before.)

You have more than a month to complete this swap (you are welcome to start taking photos as soon as you sign up, however) so please send everything on time. You can always send more photos or extra tidbits like postcards or profile-related items to put a smile on your partner's face (and maybe a heart in your rating!)

You will have only one partner to minimize the photo-printing costs. I made this international because I think it will be very interesting to see photos from completely different countries, rather than just the countries immediately next to you.

Please have a rating of at least 4.9 with no recent 3s or 1s. If you have any unexplained 3s or 1s at all, I will message you to ask why. I will angel if absolutely necessary but I do not want any flakers in this swap! If anyone sees any dubious participants in this swap, please message me. I will of course be checking everyone that joins, but seeing as I am relatively new here, I do not know any 'notorious' flakers.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment below and I'll do my best to answer.

For UK participants: if you are unsure as to where you can print photos, Tesco Extra usually has a service that does this for you. I am not sure about where you can do this in other countries, sorry!

Happy photographing!

I prefer photo paper but my old printer refuses to accept photo paper and I ahve to use regular paper. Thequalit isn't as good, so maybe I'll take my card to a drug store to ahve it printed.

Asda is good in U.K. too. There is a machine where you can put your card in, choose what you want printed, then collect the pictures a bit later.

I am editing this swap to a Type 3 swap, as I have just re-read what that type of swap entails (and I think this is more of a Type 3 than a Type 2!) I hope you all don't mind. Nothing else will change.

If we already have photos of our house / car etc - can we just use those rather than taking new ones? I have nice photos from the summer of my house & truck, it's winter here and a little gloomy. =(

Hi
Your swap looks fun but has a big red flag in the rating req. 4.50 rating is way low allowing any flaker into your swap. Presently you have 14 signed up with 29 watching. I hope you raise the rating requirements AND make sure you check your swap participants for recent 1's & 3's BEFORE hitting that assign button.

Good Luck~

@kayler00 Yes, you can use some photos you already have, just make sure they are good enough quality(:

@eathnk Thank you for the tips - I am new to hosting swaps, so I appreciate any help!

will you be doing this swap again, I am new here and don't meet the minimum requirements, I would really love to do this one.

I love the photo swaps. I'm eventually going to host a fun photo swap as well. Probably not until springtime though.I'm pretty new too and hosting my first group swap at parents and children swapping together.

@serengetisunshine If the swap is successful, then I may host another, but probably in a different season(:

@art3osb I'll be sure to look out for your photo swap!!
