Hey all! I'm bringing back my fiber toss! This time you get 2 partners instead of one. Once again the minimum to send is 1 oz of any kind of spinable fiber. THIS MUST NOT BE ALREADY SPUN. Last time we had someone send a skien of spun yarn, this is NOT what we want here. We want unspun, top, roving or raw fleece or something of the like. It does not have to be natural, it can be man made or recycled. Have fun with it but make sure it is spinable by itself, not everyone knows how to blend yet. NO DRYER LINT AS IT HAS TO BE BLENDED. YES FELTERS ARE WELCOME!

I don't think it is, but I am no expert.

I am thinking of joining this swap not because I am a spinner but because I am a needle felter and would love some new fiber to play around with.

very excited about this...started spinning a few months ago, so i have the fiber fever. i'm a newbie, but promise promise promise i'm no flake.

Dryer lint is not considered a "spinable" fiber any more than steel wool would be! It is not a joy to spin-- You might make it work IF you use a supported spindle and your twist is very high.. but it's never worth the effort! Dryer lint fibers are just plain too short. And my dryer lint, at least, has stray pet fibers mixed in. Yucky. (I've tried working with the dryer lint that comes off of brand-new-fresh fabric the first time it's washed because it would be absolutely free of pet hair, and it just plain isn't worth the effort.)

There are people who try to work with dryer lint but I do not know the method. PLEASE NO DRYER LINT, SORRY.

I will be dyeing sock yarn, so I will throw in some fleece to color at the same time!

I'm a newbie, and really looking forward to this :) I haven't done any spinning in a couple of years, but figured this was the way to get me started again. I've got a bag of gorgeous raw fleece that I've been meaning to spin, so I'll share it around and spin the rest myself.

Now do I use the wheel, or my new drop spindle...?

Just sent out the fiber to my partners. The envelope is jam-packed so there was no room for a note. The fleece is from a Columbia/Merino cross sheep named Bambi. It's very bouncy. I washed, then dyed it in a Blue and Gold Macaw colorway; very bright! Since it is loose, uncarded fiber, I would suggest spinning it straight from the bag for a random color pattern or separating the colors for a more structured yarn. I hope you enjoy the fiber!

I tried to upload an image of yarn I spun with the roving Jenny143 sent me....sorry the pic is HUGE! Thanks Jenny....I was inspired by the color and softness
