Mis-Matched Novelty Sock Swap

What a FUN swap! Unfortunately I have a very large and swollen foot, so I can't participate. 9-11 just won't fit. But I hope you all have a lot of fun with this swap!

Sounds funny. Maybe I would someday join, if there is a international-one.

Could you be more specific about type of sock than just "cover the ankle"? I have thick legs, so I can't wear knee socks—just anklets and bootie socks. (Bootie socks are the kind that do show and do cover the ankle, but they're shorter than ankle socks.) I would love to buy 3 new pairs of novelty bootie socks to split with my partner, but I don't want to receive 3 knee socks that I can't wear. And I don't want to get rated down because I sent bootie socks.

If you go to Sock Dreams and look under "Footies" you will see that some of what they call "footies" are "no show"—and therefore not allowed in this swap—but some of them are like short versions of anklets. It's the short versions of anklets that I'm calling bootie socks.

There is a company (Little Miss Matched) that sells 3 single socks packaged together that are not the same but are the same colors or theme. I will be watching for now but thought I'd let everybody joining this swap know about littlemissmatched.com.

That's a great suggestion, @Dragon68 so I'll go ahead and make Little Miss Matched into a link. But you have to be careful to check the size when you buy there, because some of their socks only come in a girl's (not women's 9-11) size.

Most shopping malls have a "Journeys" store (shoes and a few other things)...and they sell whole packs of mismatched sox in same color themes, but different patterns, etc. I think they have 6 pairs/pkg. Not sure if they have anklets, might be only no shows, but a good place to check.

One of my favorite places: Ozone Socks —they're pricy, because they're mostly non-USA, but the quality is fabulous.

@melusina Anything that covers the ankle or is longer is acceptable. On the sock dreams page here, the sock pictured under "footies" (brown w/red stripes) is fine, but I would say nothing shorter than that since that's just covering the ankle. Longer socks are fine also though, so your partner could wind up sending knee/calf/over-the-knee socks.

I love Little Miss Matched. My parents get me some socks from them every year for the holidays. I just bought a couple pair of flip-flops from them this summer too. I've seen mis-matched packs at Goodwill before by some other brand. I don't know if it's typical of all Goodwill stores, but the one I go to most always has a bunch of brand new stuff along with the used that I guess is liquidation from other stores or something. Altiers Shoe Dept. stores always have single pair or three pair packs of fun socks that are pretty cheap.

The aforementioned Ozone Socks also lets you buy a single sock, for half the price. You just have to email them and tell them you lost one.

I will be signing up for my daughter. When partners are assigned, please pm me for her name. She loves neon colors, funky and unusual socks and never wears a matched pair if she can help it.

I also would love to do this for my daughter she loves to wear mix matched socks and we bought some for her for school and I never match them I always let her do it we bought them at Walmart , but if you buy a neat pair and you can match them with the ones you recieve and will have mix matched ones --my daughter name is Stephanie and she wears the 9-11 in womens --thanks for a fun swap---we will start looking for neat and unusual socks to swap

Gordman's carries them and sears had them recently also. My daughters love them! I'm signing up for my dau. I have 3 girls and all love bright colors, peace symbols. Toni loves frogs, Stasia Zebras and TOri Monkeys. You can look at my profile and choose who you want them to go to. Just put their name on the package.
