There was a savings group swap in 2012 and the goal was to save $1 the first week, $2 the second week and so on. The final amount saved would have been $1378. Some saved $26.50 a week, so they would have an easier amount each week to put away. Some saved in jars in their houses and some (like me) moved it to my savings account so I wouldn't be tempted to order dinner in! I thought I would simplify it for 2013 - you choose the amount you can save - $10, $20, or $30 dollars a week. You'll be looking at $520 at the end of the year, or $1040 or $1560. The swap part is that next December, you send your partner an email describing how much you saved, your final total and what your plans for the money are. You can keep in touch throughout the year if you like, but you will be rated in December. It's a long commitment but there is a pot of gold at the end of it. So start 2013 with a goal - an achievable goal - and next December, you'll be happy that you did. All the usual Swap-bot rules apply - members in good standing, etc. If someone wants to start a kids' version, go right ahead. This is a swap to give something to yourself so go for it!

You can choose another amount if the amounts above are too much (or too little). The point is that we will work together and save together. I'll start a group that all the swappers can join and maybe have some monthly goals and ideas to achieve those goals.

Like use coupons this week while grocery shopping and add that amount to your savings. Or bring your lunch 3 times this week and add an additional $15. You can post more ideas below.

And there is another swap going - called 'money, money, money" that follows the model of $1 the first week, $2 the second week, etc. Feel free to join that one if that format works better for you.

I like the idea of adding what you want. I was checking out both swaps as well but the higher the week I'm not sure if I could add that much so I'm thinking more towards this one. I have cut down on swaps since my favorite swap site has went a totally different way to swap and I don't like it so I could use that to save. I've even cut down on swapping here. I'm babbling on. Am I even making sense to any of you. LOL. I know what I want to save for.

Yes, that's my hope. Our leader disappeared in the last swap and I hope that we can work together this year and encourage each other.

Hi all - I started a group called "2013 Savings Group". I thought it could be a place we would all meet and chat about savings. And maybe have some monthly challenges...Still thinking about what we can do. Please look for it and join if you want the support of the group during this endeavor.

great idea because I tried the 1st one and when it got up to the higher amounts you had to put it got hard to put back that much , so this time I am going for at least $10 and maybe more if funds are there . thanks for thinking of this

The point of the swap, not to repeat myself TOO much, is to work together and save together. I created the group so that we'd have a place to chat and not make this comment area so long that it's hard to keep up. So thanks all for joining and see you in the forum.
