Ha, a little shout out to Devo there ...

Rip it, get ripped, have a ripping good time! For this swap, make one postcard using all ripped paper. NO SCISSORS ALLOWED. No punches either. The only straight edges allowed are if you happened upon a corner ...

Only use of the scissors allowed is to trim around the border of your postcard. Or ... get creative and send a ripped border card - but be sure to include extra postage if necessary ...

Create a cut and paste collage using only ripped elements. Feel free to add any other layers that you wish - sewing, paint, ink, etc. Postcard size your choice - standard is 4 x 6 inches but 5 x 7 inches gives you more space to have fun. Feel free to go larger ...

I usually intend these handmade postcards to be sent naked (not in an envelope) but if you think yours won't make it through the mail, pop it in an envelope.

This is sender's choice but it doesn't hurt to take a peak at your partner's profile once you're assigned ...

The above piece pictured is a ripped piece I made using tape transfer without water. It's when you lay clear packing tape on top of an image (magazine is best because it's light and tears easily) and then lift the tape to get a ripped effect. I had to poke holes sometimes in the paper otherwise my tape was just lifting empty (darn cheap tape). This isn't the technique you have to use but I thought I'd mention it. I use a lot of ripping in my art though I also use a scissors.

p.s. The straight edges in the piece above are those tear off bits from old printing paper. I guess that's allowed ...

EDIT: I posted this swap in error. This is the CUT + PASTE group and ripping without allowing cutting is contradictory. So ... sorry about that everyone. My bad. I won't pull down this swap because there is so much interest but please, forgive my mistake. I must have been dizzy from all the dancing ... (whip it, whip it good).

I don't see such a contradiction: ripping is just low-tech cutting. And we're still allowed to paste, right? :^)
