SEND DATE CHANGED TO JULY 1st ;) Alrighty, thanks to a really nice bunch of folks in this swap, we are extending the send date to allow people to choose a more personalized bundle of remnants (oh send them one thing that is weird, just for fun ;) They can always re-gift it) My favorite section of the local fabric store is the remnant bin. There are awesome fabric bits, and some pretty cool non-fabric items, like clear plastic, interfacing, water-proof table cloth stuff (is that called oil cloth?) SO, let's swap cool bits of fabric from the remnant bins at your local fabric store. You will have one partner. You will send a minimum of 1 square yard, but it can be made up of as many remnants as you want. This is an international swap, so only sign up if you are willing to ship over seas. Usually I have gotten my remnants for under a dollar, so you should be able to get a full square yard for between $5 and $7 easily. If the remnants are standard widths, please try to still give your partner a full yard in total length. (meaning if you have a piece that is 18X45", please count that as one half square yard, and still send 18"x36" in addition to the wide piece. And try to avoid damaged remnants unless they have enough usable yardage and are just that cool. (If anybody's store uses the metric system, just make it almost a square meter.I have to clue if there are countries that do that) I know a lot of people are into the dotee dolls, so even small pieces can be useful. (I have not yet seen a real live dotee doll, but I am told it requires very little fabric - Update, I have seen and now posess TWO Dotee Dols :) They make my office a much happier place) If your local store does not have a remnants bin, or has lame selection, you may send remnants from your own stash. If you are like me you have a whole stash of remnants you bought on impulse and have not yet found a reason to use them. Check your partner's profile and the comments here for likes and dislikes,. It's ok to state things you don't want, but let's not go crazy with the "no's" This is a chance to expand your sewing and crafting repertoire. Sending matching buttons, or trims might even earn you a heart. <3 Fat Quarters should only be used as a last resort and had better be darn unique ;) |
