Description:

Let's make a matchbox craft for the Christmas holiday! It doesn't have to be a Santa or Christmas Tree theme ... you can use a snow theme or red/gold color theme or any other theme you see around this time of year. The only requirement is that it has to be festive and fun...unless you're doing a "Grinch" theme. ha ha! And it still has to be fun even if he is a ... grinch!

Your matchbox can be a single matchbox or you can do a matchbox set of drawers. I've even seen multiple matchboxes made into a Christmas tree form! That would be adventurous but feel free to make one if you're feeling so inclined! Some crafters use actual matchboxes as their base. But you are welcome to make your own. Rachel has a matchbox template here, here, and here if you'd like to use her template. I've used it and it's super easy to do. :)

The requirement for this swap is a minimum of one matchbox. You can make this into a drawer that slides out with little goodies inside. Or you can create a matchbox "scene" - a picture is seen when you slide the drawer open or "unfold" the top of the matchbox. I'd love to see some made into an Ornament! Please check out flickr and search for "Christmas matchboxes". Or you can just click here and hopefully matchboxes will appear before your eyes. You will see a plethora of beautiful matchboxes in all sorts of styles.

When you mail this matchbox, please do not mail it simply in an envelope where the box can get smashed. You must package it in a way that the matchbox will arrive intact. Some people put these in a harder box or container and send in a bubble envelope. Others simply mail a small box which contains the matchbox within. However you mail it, just be sure it is protected and your partner receives your beautiful creation the way you created it.

This swap is a private swap between @mlandman & @KarlaKC @mlandman will send and it will be received by @KarlaKC before @KarlaKC sends.

Thank you @racheljohnson for the use of your photo of matchboxes you created for a Christmas Matchbox swap!
