Description:

This is a swap for anyone that loves gems, minerals & crystals! I think a lot of pagan's might enjoy this swap or even if you are just into pretty stones or practice New Age or alternative healing techniques!

When you first join this swap you MUST immediately add - below in the comments section - 3 or 4 colors you would like your stone to be. Your partner (when they are assigned) will look for your name below and then go buy you a stone that they choose for you based on one of the colors you have listed.

The stone should be specially purchased for your partner. Most stones are rather inexpensive so this should not be very costly, I would say under $5.00.

The stone that you buy for your partner should be at least around the size of a walnut. I understand that walnuts are round and most stones have odd shapes, especially those that are 'in the rough', but I just want to give a basic idea of what the size should be. In other words, no pea-sized, tiny-little, have-to-squint-to-see-it kind of stones! ;o) They can be bigger, just not smaller than about the size of a walnut.

The gem, mineral or crystal can be smooth & polished, cut or in the rough. Please no stones that have been cut into an animal, heart or any other unnatural shape! No glitter or anything added, no writing on it or etching in it! We want these to be as natural as possible.

Please, please, please find out the name of the gem, mineral or crystal and include it with the stone!!! We all want to know what we have received from our partners! If you are feeling extra-generous you can write down or print out some information about the stone - the attributes, properties, meanings, etc of the stone. But this is not necessary, the name however, is.

I am giving 1 month to find and mail the stone to your partner - that should be more than enough time!

I do check profiles & I will ban anyone who has not added their colors to the comments section by the time partners are to be assigned! It doesn't matter if you have extensive information on your profile, you still must add 3 to 4 colors that you want your stone to be in the comments section.

Please package you stone well (maybe with bubble wrap) so the Post Office doesn't destroy it on the way.

Any questions, please send me a PM. Thank you & I hope everyone enjoys this swap! :o)

Now there is an INTERNATIONAL VERSION! I've gotten a few PMs requesting one so decided that it would be a wonderful idea! All of you here in the USA please feel free to also join the International version as well, it would be a great way to add to your collection and the postage wouldn't be very expensive!

I love gems and geodes and have been looking for some to put on my new bookshelf, but unfortunately I will be on vacation for the entirety of the swap. I do hope you intend to host again because I'd definitely be interested! :)

Houstonsgal 12/ 5/2013 #

Is the send by date correct? Sign up ends on Dec. 20...that's just a little over 2 weeks. Just checking to make sure before I sign up.

suephil 12/ 5/2013 #

I love the colours - purple, pink, green and blue. Even a combination of these colours would be fantastic. This sounds like a great idea.

jeanland 12/ 6/2013 #

@LittleMissMrs ~ I'm sorry you won't be able to join us this round. :o( But YES! I will be doing another round in about 2 months or so, just be sure to check back around February!

@Houstonsgal ~ Yes the dates are correct, I just want to make sure everybody has enough time to pick out the perfect stone for their partner! :o)

If anyone finds that they need more time to pick out their stone then please let me know and I can extend the send date a few more days!

jeanland 12/ 7/2013 #

As for the colors I like ~

  • blues & greens or a mix of them.
  • purple (but not amethyst, I have a lot of them). :o)
  • lots of colors all blended together.
xNurseNinax 12/ 7/2013 #

My colors would be:

Purple
Black
Green
Any odd stone, like a swirling agate or something or clear for scrying!
LOVE this swap!

DearPoetry 12/ 7/2013 #

  • pink/rose

Seaglass 12/ 7/2013 #

Yeah!!! Thanks for hosting another swap. You know I love 'em :).

I like clear, pink/rose, natural colors or can be anything of your choice. I'm easy.

zoev1975 12/ 8/2013 #

Hi Jean, would you consider hosting this as an international swap too? Or if not, would you mind if I did? Zoe xx

rindexones 12/ 8/2013 #

The colors I like are: -green -goldenrod/amber -any opaque color (like moonstone, opal....though I'm not expecting opals lol!)

Can't wait!

jeanland 12/10/2013 #

I wanted to let everyone know that I DID INDEED mess up the 'send by' date - I should have set it to ONE MONTH from partner assignment so everyone would have more than enough time to pick out the perfect stone for their partner. I'm so sorry about that, but it has been fixed now! :o)

LittleMissMrs 12/10/2013 #

So glad the date is now Jan 20, that means I can participate after all!

I would love to receive these colors: - Green (especially mossy greens or dark greens) - Orange (coral and peach are my favorite shades) - Red (all shades, if you could find rough garnet within the price range, that would be super special because it's my birthstone!) - Yellow (darker shades and golden, preferably) - Those are my preferences because I am using them for a decorative project in my living room, but if they are too difficult and specific, I will take any shade of purple and use it in my bedroom instead. :)

Rough cut stones are my favorites. :)

Very excited about this swap!

charophyta 12/10/2013 #

Let's say... reds, yellows, oranges, or blues.

I have an interest in crystals that are energizing/stimulating, anything that is supposed to help with motivation and getting things done. I also look for crystals that help tune in to spiritual guidance, goddesses, spirits. And anything for emotional healing or financial success is good too. (It doesn't have to be one of these, I just thought I'd mention it in case you can recommend a stone you have used for a similar purpose!)

piratecaptainmo 12/11/2013 #

I love milky greens, purples, and whites. I also love rusty shades. However if you think something is calling my name and asking to come live me, then the color doesn't matter, go with your gut. I just love stones!

Bug 12/14/2013 #

When it comes to stones and such I tend to gravitate towards ones that are in the cool color family (greens, blues, violet). Anything that looks like it has a story to tell (my favorite place in the universe is Kartchner Caverns in southern Arizona).... the entire place looks like you are inside a large earthy geode. I also find myself very giddy to find things that are similar to moon stone with that milky look with possible ribbons of iridescent tones inside.

This is a great idea for a swap, btw!!

Artistic 12/16/2013 #

Mostly I like stones and crystals that seem to have a story to tell -- I know that's an "eye of the beholder" sort of thing. In general, I just like rocks. :)

I like jewel tones -- blues, golds, purples. (In gems, I'm partial to sapphires, emeralds and citrines, if that helps.)

I'm a writer so anything that promotes, encourages, enhances creativity will be welcome.

starhiker 12/17/2013 #

Any color would be fine I enjoy all kinds of stones like semi transparent, banded, geodes, opalescent. I really love that one up above that's a pretty stone. And I really love stones with inclusions like rutilated quartz or enhydro crystals but they are too spendy to find for this swap.

Reds blues ambers violet green it's all good. tumbled or rough either one is fine.

PeppermintKiwi 12/18/2013 #

I love:

  • Greens
  • Reds
  • Purples

In particular, I could also really use any related to reduced anxiety or increased creativity. Or, if you happen to come across a hag stone (a stone with a hole worn through it naturally), that would be awesome :D

Really I'm not picky, as long as it's not rose quartz, which I have up to my ears :)

armadillogal 12/20/2013 #

Love this kind of stuff. My birthstone (peridot)...I like turquoise-ish colors, light green like adventurine, agates like banded ones, black like onyx or red like coral, ...I love the ocho rios geode halves...the black and white ones...., purples like amethyst or tanaznite, , reddish orange carnelian, there are so many......anything exotic like larbradorite or apatite....jade, any color...would love some druzy quartz or hematite....i'm not into rose quartz

althena 12/21/2013 #

I love moonstone and labradorite... I'm a fairly newbie Wiccan and am learning about crystals. Anything that is protective or centering/grounding is good for me. I've heard iron pyrite is good for that but haven't any yet. I'd specifically like something for the workplace that will ground, protect, and enhance memory/concentration.

I have a fair about of hematite, rose quartz, onyx, and amethyst

Overall, I'm not that picky :) I would love it you would include information about the stone name, properties, uses, and any other personally gained information about the stone.

Blessed be and Happy Yule!

Artistic 01/13/2014 #

A package is on the first way to my partner. Enjoy!

jeanland 01/19/2014 #

I changed the SEND DATE to 31st January. I thought with all the holidays everyone has had to deal with we could all use a nice extension! :o)

Any questions just PM me!
