Description:

Free Art Friday is a movement where you'll take create a small piece of art and put it in a public place on a Friday for anyone to take.

In this swap, you will send one of your own zines to one partner.

A zine is homemade self-published miniature magazine that has pretty much anything you want inside. (There are tons of tutorials on how to fold them.) Zines are also usually a photocopy of the original.

The zine can be on any subject as long as it's FAMILY FRIENDLY, but try to make it something anyone would want to read/look through. It can be any size, but the standard is 8 sheets from one page.

Once you've received a zine from your partner, take a copy of one of your own. Put both zines in a baggie labeled "Free Art Friday - This is for You!" Put a note inside requesting the receiver to take a picture and post it on the Free Art Friday Facebook wall. On a Friday, put the baggie in any public place. (You may want to do it inside because of the weather.) Examples: park bench, library desk, coffee shop, etc. I would not recommend the floor/ground because it is likely to get thrown away.

The Free Art Friday portion of this swap won't play into the rating, it's just a fun post-swap activity.

Your partner may want to keep a copy of your zine too keep as well as the one he/she gives away. Know that your zine may be copied once without your permission.

This is a regional USA only swap.

I am happy to angel if necessary, but I hope it won't be!

If you have any questions, please ask below. Hopefully this isn't too confusing.

I love Free Art Friday. There is a Facebook page called of course Free Art Friday. I drop off Art each Friday around the city I live in or if I am in another city. Always ask them to please enjoy the free art and if they would not mind to take a pic of it and post it on the Face Book site. I will look for a tutorial on how to make zine before I sign up.. Love the idea.

Oh, that's great! Do you mean to write on the baggie to please post the pic of Facebook? Or to instruct the people in the swap to post the pic themselves?

I leave a note in the baggie and ask them to take a pic of them holding the art and where they found it. On Valentine's day I made a bunch of Valentines as well as a few friends did and dropped them off around Sacramento and Chico CA area. I dropped mine off at a senior center and the looks of people when they found them were priceless. It was random act of kindness week so it was fun to just be random and kind. A friends valentine which she left on a bench, someone shared it on the Michaels Craft Store twitter... was awesome.
