Description:

If you're like me, and have wanted to try making an ATC (Artist Trading Card), but don't feel comfortable swapping with people who have making these for ages then THIS IS THE SWAP FOR YOU!

An ATC must be 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches in size. After that, the only limit is your imagination. This doesn't mean you just slap a few stickers onto a piece of card and say you're done. We need to put some effort and thought into this.

The theme for this ATC is the colour BLUE. This means that most of the card needs to be different shades of blue. You can have other colours in there, but blue must be the dominant colour. Think blue sky, blue water, blue flowers, etc. Then let your materials (stickers, fabric, washi tape, fancy paper etc.) go to work.

This swap is open to anyone who is willing to put some time and effort into making their very first ATC. I know I really want to try this out, but am really nervous about doing it. I'm just really not that artistic and feel intimidated to send my first effort to someone experienced! If you're in the same boat, please join me. Maybe we'll all find a new craft to be crazy about!

New swappers are very welcome. For everyone else, a rating of 4.85 is necessary. No 1s in 2014. If you've got any 3s, please send me a message explaining what happened. I really don't want any flakers in this group (just had my first flaker recently and it's made me more cautious). This swap will take time and effort, so if you're not prepared to commit to it, please don't join. It's just not fair on your partner. PLEASE NOTE: I'm going to have enough of a challenge just doing my ATC. There's no way I can angel this swap.

Rating: as long as you receive an ATC that looks like your partner put time and effort into it, rate a 5. The whole idea is to try out something new, so I can't guarantee that any of us are going to make a masterpiece the first time!

If enough people enjoyed this swap, let me know. I'd be happy to set this sort of swap up again as we all go through the "learning curve"! Lol

As I only started doing ATCs two months ago and was very excited when sending the first ones, I would also like to join this swap. Would it be okay to join even if I already made quite a few by now?

rileybear 05/19/2014 #

@Reisegern -- of course! As long as you are okay with our first-time efforts!

rusharoni 05/19/2014 #

Awesome! I wanted to try one because it sounds interesting, but like you said, I was a little intimidated by what I've seen online as samples. We'll see how this goes. :)

Same for me have only made 4 but hold my breath each time I send, would love to join if ok?

rileybear 05/20/2014 #

@gmastubby -- of course!

xoashlieanne 05/20/2014 #

Just so you know ATC stands for Artist Trading Card not Altered just wanted to fill you in on that:)

rileybear 05/20/2014 #

@xoashlieanne -- you are absolutely correct! Thanks for correcting me. A slip of my fingers.

This sounds awesome! I also like the idea of a theme. Sometimes it's hard to figure out what to create, so with the color blue we have a jumping off point. :)

I doing my first atc and swap, hope it goes well.

rileybear 05/29/2014 #

Uh oh, this is becoming addictive. I don't know if they're any good, but I'm having fun!

hannastyrbjorn 05/30/2014 #

Oh this is gonna be so much fun. This is the second swap I've signed up for and I became a member yesterday. :-) Thank you for letting newbies join in. I find it hard to find a swap suitable for other swappers than those really experienced. I only have some question. Do I have to put anything on the card or is it okay with only water colour, paint and pen? Is any type of paper ok and shoud they be signed (if so where?) Sorry for all the questions :-/

rileybear 05/31/2014 #

No problem, glad to answer your questions. The paper should be fairly sturdy cardboard kind of like from a cereal box. You can use watercolors, different colored paper, stickers, anything is fine. If you want to, have a look at artist trading card pictures on the Internet for some ideas. And you should put your name on the back, along with your username, the date, and the name of the swap.

Rileybear:

I would be happy to angel someone who might get flaked on for this swap. Just let me know.....

rileybear 06/ 5/2014 #

@Houstonsgal -- Thanks for the offer. Let's hope no one flakes (but then again, if you enjoyed it as much as I did you could be hoping for a flake.... lol)

mrsvince 06/11/2014 #

Just wanted to let you know that I have sent my card, but haven't had access to the internet to say it was posted... :)

rileybear 06/11/2014 #

@mrsvince -- thanks for letting us know.

rileybear 06/11/2014 #

Yay -- no flakers! Excitedly waiting to receive my partner's ATC.
