Description:

I put the word cards in quotation marks because you will make the journal cards. These should be at least ATC/playing card size - 2.5 x 3.5 inches. You can go as large as 3 x 4 inches. These are meant to be added your art journal pages with space for writing and captions.

You can use decorated (by you!) card stock, index cards, playing cards, found/free flyers, postcards, advertisements. Add gesso, tape, sprays or ink but leave some room for writing. You can add lines or not. Make them similar or make them each different. This is sender's choice.

Recap - 6 hand-made, hand-decorated journal cards to one partner.

I know this group hasn't been active for a while so please add a comment in the forum as to what you would like to see this group do, add your swap ideas, and say hello.

What I was thinking that as much as I love commercial scrapbook paper and embellishments, I also like the look of handmade and hand-painted stuff. In my altered book journal, the background for many of the pages is paint (put on by a brayer as I use my Gelli plate) or by cleaning off my brush while painting elsewhere.

So to add a store-bought card wouldn't look right (to me) on a page with scrappy paint and papers.

I'm planning to make one card with lines, one with dots, maybe one with sewing, one with doodling and I'll go to Pinterest for more ideas.

Hope that helps.

Of course, you can use a Project Life card (or other company/brand as a base for your card, if it has grids or lines) but add to it and make it arty - add fabric, buttons, rickrack, ribbon, a prompt word, doodling, rubber stamps, some stenciling, whatever you usually do.

If you want to make specific cards for the theme of your journal, then chat with your partner when they are assigned so you get what you want and visa versa.
