I have been rereading some of my art books of late and one of them has an art doll project in it that I thought would be super as a swap! The original idea was for one made out of foam board, but I am thinking a "paper" doll would be easier to mail. So, let's make our partners an art doll/paper doll using something like chipboard or a similar sturdy material (think cereal boxes) as the base. Cover them with papers, fabrics, beads, etc, etc. Make their faces however you wish-stamps, hand drawn, whatever. :) I believe the doll I am making is about 12" long, but I will check for sure. I would say anything in that size range (from 8"-14") should be fine. My pattern is from a Stampington Workshop book from a few years back. I will look up a link. If you find a simple doll design online or at home, use that. These dolls are only the head, upper body and arms. Mine does not have legs. The arms do not move, but you can make yours with movable arms if you like. Just be careful when mailing it! I tried to update the photo to one more like what I am making, but the computer isn't cooperating. :( If you google "art doll template" or something similar you will find all sorts of ideas and free patterns! :) |
