Heya Sisters! So, I've never made a whimsy jar before, but I was recently looking at pictures of them and they're BEAUTIFUL! I feel super inspired to make one, and I hope you will be, too! There are so many wonderful themes we could do for this group, like faerie jars, moon jars, herb jars, etc., (which will come soon) but since Imbolc is the nearest Sabbat, I thought it would be a fun idea to make this whimsy jar centered around what Imbolc represents, which is the anticipation of Spring, and celebration of the hearth and home. A good way for me to visualize this is that it's similar to a pocket letter, but in a decorated jar. So for this swap, you will send one whimsy jar to one partner. You must decorate a GLASS mason jar in the theme of Imbolc/Spring, and it must be filled to the top with items that can be useful for Spring time or for use in your partner's home. For example, I might fill my whimsy jar with seeds, herbs, recipes, crystals and gemstones, incense (sealed in a baggy), small kitchen gadgets, any item to decorate an Imbolc altar that would fit in the jar, tea, sweets, ephemera with bumble bees, baby animals, the Fey, nature scenes, faerie dust, spells, potions, handmade items representing the Goddess (Brigid), flowers, gardening gloves, washi tape in pastel colors or bright red, recipe cards, note pads, handmade soaps, lotions, etc. The list of items you could put into your whimsy jar is endless. As long as you keep it relevant to the theme and relevant to Paganism (and you don't put in lavender soap when your partner states on their profile that they don't like lavender soap), you should be fine! Please make sure you fill your jar as much as possible. I am not putting a price requirement on this swap, just make sure you send quality handmade or store-bought items, and that you don't cheat your partner with too much of one item. Send a nice mix of things, not 4 rolls of pastel washi tape, a note pad and 10 seed packets. Be creative and be generous! This whimsy jar is equal parts crafting and equal parts gifting. Your partner should open their whimsy jar and truly feel your generosity pour out of it! Remember, Imbolc is a celebration of hearth and home, love, fertility, FEMININITY, healing and the lengthening of days. There are a TON of fantastic examples on Pinterest and Youtube. Feel free to message me if you feel like you need some help with ideas. Since this is my first whimsy jar, and we are all still recovering from the holidays craze, I'm giving ample time (3 weeks) to make this and send it out. You must have a 4.98 rating to join this swap. Flaking will result in your immediate removal from the group. Get brainstorming and have FUN!! If you want an international version, PLEASE message me! I am 100% willing to do something so you can be a part of this. The last 2 international swaps I made, no international members joined (we have 2 or 3 members), so just communicate your wishes and we will come up with something! :) |
