PTG: Postcard Scavenger Hunt - ART #1

I thought it might be fun to have a scavenger hunt for postcards that depict different types of art. Listed below are 12 categories. Send your partner 5 blank postcards from among the listed categories, but send only one card per category. Please indicate either on post-it notes or on a separate piece of paper which category each card represents.

You must have a rating of at least 4.98 to join this swap and no recent or unexplained 1 or 3 ratings. The postcards may include store bought cards or cards purchased online, including Zazzle, Redbubble or the like, as long as the card is of good quality. No handmade cards are allowed. The cards should be in good condition with no worn edges or corners, or creases.

Here are the categories from which you should select your five postcards. I have listed some examples for the categories involving artists from specific countries just to help you identify some you might have, but you are free to send lesser known artists who hail from those countries.

~ Black and white illustration

~ Artwork made by an American artist (examples include Hopper, Sargent, Homer, Pollock, Basquit, Whistler, Koons, Cassatt, Rockwell, O'Keeffe, etc.)

~ Abstract art

~ Artwork made by a Dutch artist (examples include Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Bosch, Mondrian, etc.)

~ Depiction of a historical event

~ Artwork made by an Italian artist (examples include Michelangelo, da Vinci, Raphael, Botticelli, Titian, Caravaggio, etc.)

~ Depiction of a landscape

~ Statue

~ Artwork made by a French artist (examples include Cezanne, Degas, Lautrec, Monet, Manet, Renoir, Delacroix, Gauguin, Matisse, Seurat, etc.)

~ Realistic art

~ Digital art

~ Collage art
