Description:

The easiest Mix CD swap ever! If you use iTunes, you have an automatically-generated list of the 25 songs you've listened to the most. (If you use another program, you might still have the same thing.) Simply put these 25 songs - or as many as you can fit - onto a CD, and send it out! You barely even have to think about it.

International swappers welcome.

I work for apple and am excited to see this swap...Even if I DIDN'T work for Apple i would still be super excited.

Cheers. Amy

This is a GREAT idea for a mix CD, however, I could not fit the entire Top 25 on one CD. Is 19 songs sufficient enough for this mix? LMK!

denkschema 03/ 8/2007 #

I don't live in the US... can I still participate?

user554 03/12/2007 #

This is a cool swap...i know my top 25 won't fit on a cd, but i have no problem sending 2 cds with all 25 songs. does anyone else have a problem doing that??

LunaGirl 03/13/2007 #

This is a great idea. It was actually interesting to see what songs I played the most.

So, there's one band I guess I listen to alot, there won't be a problem with multiple songs by one artist, will there? How's everyone handling that?

user1011 03/13/2007 #

Hey guys!

Sheri - fit as many as you can. My 25 probably won't fit either; I just picked the number 25 because that's how iTunes sorts automatically.

Denkschema - I have no problem with international swappers - CDs should be pretty cheap to mail anywhere.

Luna - I'd say it's likely that most people will have several songs by one or more artists. I know I will. Don't worry about it, just burn away!

I can't burn anything I've bought at itunes or anything from someone else'd ipod which knocks out 3/4 of my music and most of my top 25. Am I missing something on how I should be doing this?

suzylucie 03/19/2007 #

I accidently hit sent...I haven't. Still tying to figure out how to burn from itunes/ipod music.

user6381 03/20/2007 #

Yeah, I have a whole album's worth for one artist, so I'm going to include a couple, then cut it back from there. I too hit sent by accident, heh, sorry. I'll let you all know when they're sent! :)

jkjk 03/20/2007 #

suzylucie...you should be able to burn any songs purchased from itunes, although i know it will give you a warning about music piracy when you do so. you definitely cannot burn from an ipod...they just don't work that way. i found that out the hard way!! :(

crimson007 03/23/2007 #

Uh oh...I may have a problem. I received my 1st CD today, and was planning on sending mine out this afternoon, they are all burned, just today is the 1st chance I"ll have to get to the PO. The CD I got is great...except that 10 out of the 25 songs I can't play b/c on itunes my computer isn't authorized to play them. I'm figuring this is b/c they are songs the sender bought from itunes..and most of the songs on my CD are ones I bought also..I don't want to send and have someone else have the same problem and think I'm ripping them off, esp. since I'm new. Any ideas? I haven't tried to play on a regular cd layer yet..will try that also. thanks!

suzylucie 03/23/2007 #

I never could get itunes stuff to burn. Maybe the softwear (Sonic) is the culprit. I picked "burn a cd to listen to in your car" from the list of choices the softwear gave me and tested it on my laptop and it played, although I didn't listen to the whole thing.

Anyway mine are long mailed out and should have been received. If they don't play, let me know and I'll reburn (with the assistance of someone who knows what they are doing) This shouldn't be so hard. I feel technologically illiterate!

user1011 03/23/2007 #

Ack, I'm really sorry this turned out to be so complicated guys. I've never bought from the iTunes store so I didn't know there were so many restrictions!

Everyone please keep all of this in mind when you get your CDs and be nice to your partners :)

jkjk 03/24/2007 #

huh, i've never once had a problem burning songs i burnt from itunes...and i know i use itunes music in my swaps quite a bit. has anyone received cds from me that have a song that won't allow them to play because of this? i hope that hasn't happened cause that would majorly suck! i'm going to test a cd i burnt with itunes songs in my car right now to see what happens...

jkjk 03/24/2007 #

susan i got your mix...thanks a ton!

suzylucie 03/26/2007 #

BrittneyBush, it's certainly not your fault this was a challenge to my technological skills. I am widely known for making things more complicated than they need to be!

Jess, cranialbleeding, got your Top 25 today. Thank you very much. I was listening to it while cooking dinner and when my husband came home and noticed it, he tried to take it!

jkjk 03/26/2007 #

Jess I got your mix...it looks really great. Can't wait to give it a lesson. By the way...itunes update. I was able to burn a disc made up only of songs i purchased from itunes and it played just fine in a cd player. maybe you have to have a certain setting??? i don't know!

user1011 03/27/2007 #

Hey guys!

My stepdad is a bit of an Apple genius so I asked him about the technical problems :)

He said to make sure that you have your options set to "Burn Audio CD," NOT an AAC or MP3 CD. He says that this should eliminate permission issues.

If any of you are still struggling, hope this helps!

user554 03/27/2007 #

I've never had a problem burning audio cds from itunes even songs i purchased from the itunes store. i haven't had a problem playing tunes on my macbook from other people either. in any event your cds should work in a regular cd player. if you try to play the songs in itunes & it asks for authorization, chances are your partner chose to protect the songs when burning them and kept them in AAC format, it is a common mistake.

crimson007 03/27/2007 #

Yeah, I sent mine out after trying them on a cd player. They work fine on the cd player but I don't think they will play in itunes..I'm sorry I just couldn't figure out how to change the settings to allow it. :( If anyone has a problem with it, please let me know and I will gladly work with you to fix it and send another if need be~ Sorry!

suzylucie 03/28/2007 #

Cecily, starrypurplehaze, I got my cd and I really like it. I've already played it twice. Musical taste is so subjective, as I said when I sent mine out. I thought it would be fun just to see what others are listening to, but I've now got new music that I really like and would never have known about. Thank you so much.

jkjk 03/28/2007 #

cecily thanks a ton for your mix! it looks like we have some musical taste in common! i'll rate you when i can :)

denkschema 03/30/2007 #

melanie: I got my CD and it is so great! Exactly my kind of music. (hehe... I also adore the 'Garden State' soundtrack ;-))

starrypurplehaze 03/30/2007 #

suzylucie and dan031082, i'm so glad you like your cds. you're right, music taste is subjective, and i'm excited to get to know some new artists. :)

byronicwoman, i got yours today, and i can't wait to play it! :D

KMC 04/ 1/2007 #

Will have sent out to Jill, Melanie and Mandy by Monday. Sorry I am late on this.

denkschema 04/ 3/2007 #

Sorry, guys, I just realized that I forgot to write my nick on the CDs I sent out. So when you receve a CD from Germany without identification on it (except for real name and address), it's probably from me :-)

GiddyUpSoldier 04/ 6/2007 #

Anyone know why your iTunes would all of a sudden delete all your music from it? Not from the computer, just from iTunes.
