Blackout Poetry

Have you ever tried blackout poetry? It's a fun and creative way to make poetry!

Here how it work! You take an article (like from a newspaper or magazine) and blackout all but a few word. Those few words are now a new poem, created by YOU!

Step 1. Scan your article for words that jump out to you. Step 2. Read the whole article. Step 3. Circle all the words you don't want to blackout. Step 4.with a permanent marker, blackout all the words you have not circled. 5.write your new poem on the back or separate sheet of paper. You now have a new poem!

You can also draw around your poem!

So now that you know how to create a blackout poem. Here's how this swap will go! You will have 1 partner. You can choose any article you like. It can be from a newspaper, magazine, book, any article. create your poem using the steps above. Send your new poem & the blackout poem to your partner. Don't forget to add your user name and swap names. Oh And Don't send your partner a copy of the original article!
