Hello Crafting Queens I have a junk journal challenge with a theme. Fairy Tale Queens. I propose each of us create a junk journal with a favored fairy tale queen in mind. Some queens i can think of off the top of my head are The Snow Queen, Snow White's evil step mother, Alice in Wonderland's Red Queen, Ozma of Oz... evil queens, good queens, the possibilities are endless. Grab some pictures and items that represent your queen and create a junk journal ! I was thinking of creating a smaller lighter junk journal to start off with and if there is enough interest work up to bigger heaver ones. minimum requirements; Cover- minimum 5inches by 7inchs created out of file folder ( can be made from an old book cover as well but that is a little heavier) decorated according to theme Two (minimum) signatures with ten(minimum) sheets of paper per signature. The book should end up with 40 pages. Binding: my preferred method to bind my pages to the cover is sewing. I use a very simple sewing method with three holes in each signature and often alternate between leaving the ends on the out side of the book or inside the middle of the signature. other options are binder rings and specific binding tools and special coils. Please use one of these three methods. Decorations: must have at least 5 pockets and or tuck spots, 5 tags and or folded loose paper for extra journaling space. Embellish and create. I enjoy making pockets and tuck spots, pages that extend out for more writing space, beautiful pictures, lace, material, tags, extra pretty paper for writing on, vintage ephemera, stamping.I love using doilies, envelops, and paper bags. I also tea dye or coffee dye all the papers i am using for most of the journals i create and the paper I use is often a mix between patterned card stock i have, lined paper, graph paper and music sheets. Because I use old books i often use the book pages to create embellishments and envelopes and tuck spots.
