Description: | |
The upcoming total solar eclipse on August 21st is going to be a huge deal. It will be the first such event to be visible from anywhere inside the continental United States since 1979 and it will also span the entire country, with a path of totality that stretches from Oregon to South Carolina, which has not occurred since all the way back in 1918. The United States Postal Service has just released a Total Eclipse of the Sun commemorative Forever stamp that will please both philatelists and astronomers alike. What makes the stamp itself special is that it’s the first in U.S. history to be printed using thermochromic ink, which means it responds to changes in temperature. As you press your finger on the stamp, the image of a solar eclipse—based on a photograph from March 29, 2006, shot in Libya—becomes an image of the moon. It reverts to the original image as it cools back down. For this swap you will post at least 3 pictures representing an eclipse on your 3 partners' profile. They need not be total nor solar. Test out your pictures by posting them on your own profile where mistakes can be easily erased. Choose pictures around size 300. If you are unsure check out the APDGroup thread explaining how to get the correct sized picture. As always I reserve the right to excuse anyone that may alter the success of this swap or spoil the fun of the other participants. As a bonus, since this is the 30th Swap I have hosted, I will send each and every participant a brand new Total Eclipse of the Sun commemorative stamp. Let's have a happy swap! |
