Beware the Ides of March Origin From Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, 1599. 'Beware the Ides of March' is the soothsayer's message to Julius Caesar, warning of his death. The Ides of March didn't signify anything special in itself - this was just the usual way of saying "March 15th." Each month has an Ides (usually the 15th) and this date wasn't significant in being associated with death. taken from http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/63400.html But most of us equate the Ides of March with bad luck or a sense of dread and foreboding. So, I propose we do something about it! Send each of your partners a lucky charm. Something that will protect them, enlighten them, or just generally make them feel lucky! You will have 3 partners. The charm can be store bought, found, or handmade. You MUST include an explanation as to why the item you have sent is a "lucky charm." IN THE INTEREST OF ANIMAL SAFETY, I REQUEST THAT NO ANIMALS BE HARMED FOR THIS SWAP (AS IT IS UNLUCKY TO THE RABBIT WHO LOSES HIS FOOT FOR A CHARM) So please, no animal lucky charms unless they are naturally occurring objects, such as a feather that has already fallen out of the bird's wing. as always, any questions, just ask! if there are fewer than 3 participants, this swap will be cancelled. |
