What is Rangoli? The term rangoli is derived from words rang (colour) and aavalli ('coloured creepers' or 'row of colours'). Rangoli is one of the most popular art forms in India. It is a form of sandpainting decoration that uses finely ground white powder and colours, and is used commonly outside homes in India. The motifs in traditional Rangoli are usually taken from Nature - peacocks, swans, mango, flowers, creepers, etc.

Send TWO different postcards with a Rangoli design on it. Hand made or store bought. Send Two postcards to one person. Please write something about India on the postcards. Ideas: Rangoli, art, textile art, history, trivia, fabric, music, culture, etc. It's open how you want to mail the two postcards.
The first postcard is to find a design that is already created and send that one to your partner. The second postcard is your own design created. Not copied already from an artist. If you do decide to create hand made postcards you don't have to use India's traditional sand painting technique. Create the postcards with any sort of art medium. Such as : colored pencils, ink pens, colored pens, acrylics, watercolors, etc. Please don't just use stickers, or just plain pencils. Be colorful and cover up the whole postcard.
If there are any websites on the subject of Rangoli please do share . Happy swapping!
