This swap is for a handmade knitting needle organizer, whether it be a roll, holder or case. It can be sewn, knitted, crocheted or felted; and it can be for circulars, DPNs, straights or any combination.
You will be assigned one partner and you need to contact your partner to discuss her preferences. While you will try to consider her preferences in terms of fabrics, colors, patterns or yarns etc., the degree of complication is limited by your sewing or knitting skills. So be reasonable and don't ask for 50 pockets, 9 to 16 pockets is usual, 30 pockets would be considered extreme unless your partner agrees.
Please use good quality fabrics or yarns. Need I say no synthetics of any sort unless your partner agrees?
And add a nice pair of needles which can fit into the holder when you send it. It can be circulars, DPNs or straights; and it can be any size, but it should be of good quality (otherwise it will be useless), and explain why you chose it ... for instance, you know your partner likes sheep so you send a pair of needles with sheep toppers. Or, your partner likes to knit scarves and you find a certain needle material or size good for that. Or your partner likes lace and you find needles which work well with lace. The point is not to send anything you wouldn't want to receive.
No monetary value, but AIM FOR HEARTS. It's an international swap because it will be light, but only for people with ratings above 4.5, and no no sends, I just had two flake outs in recent swaps and it's not pleasant. Genuine newbies with complete profiles and bloglinks write to me first.
Please post your preferences as to organizer type and colors below, and perhaps also what type of holders you can make.
You can be as specific as you like but there's no obligation to follow the specifications exactly. E.g. Say I would love a fabric circular + DPNs fabric roll type organizer in Kaffe Fassett's paperweight lime with at least 9 pockets for circulars and maybe 12 for DPNs. Well, my partner could send me a non Kaffe Fassett still mostly lime patterned fabric roll with 9 pockets and 12 pockets for DPNs. That's fine. It's probably easier to say, oh, I like blues and greens, and leave your partner to use her creativity.
And remember it's open to negotiation. Let's say you don't sew but are willing to knit a holder and you are assigned a partner who has stated that she prefers a fabric sewn holder. Well, I am sure the partner will be more than happy to receive a knitted case, as long as you have tried your best.
Hey, please join? This will be fun. What you make depends on your skills. I can probably make any kind of knitting holders but I like to make fabric ones most.
