Description:

Welcome to the first swap for the group, The Wildwood:
Digital Book of Shadows Page #1. Hopefully this will be successful and become the first in a series.

This is an international swap!

This is a digital swap, but it should not be considered low-effort. Get creative! The goal is to create a page you would be proud to include in your own book of shadows.

Swap Requirements:

For this swap, you will send your partner (via email attachment) 1 digital book of shadows page of your own creation. This page should be something your partner can use in their digital book of shadows or to print off a physical copy for their book . The page’s dimensions should be 8.5" x 11" inches, unless your partner has specified below that they would be open to receiving a different size. (If you are open to other sizes of page, please comment below, however, this is an optional thing, so do not rate down if/simply because you receive an 8.5" x11" inch page).

Final page/image requirements: 8.5" x 11" inches a.k.a 2550 x 3300 pixels
suggested minimum resolution: 300 dpi

Don’t simply purchase or download a pre-existing page, or copy & paste some text and an image from google and call it a day. You are expected to send your partner something unique, made by you - if you have already made a page, please make sure it is representative of your best effort and not already available somewhere online or previously shared in a swap. In other words, this should be the first time this page sees the ‘light of day’, whether you’ve just made it or not. (i.e. you don't need to create your own spell from scratch, but the page itself should be original)

Use good sense and judgement when choosing page topics. Although they do not need to be directly profile-based, do take a look at your partner’s profile to see what they like and don’t like to receive. i.e. If they clearly state that they don't like spiders, then don’t send them a page about spiders.

Include a short note in your email including your swap-bot name, the name of this swap (should also be in your message’s subject line) and a few words about the subject of the page you chose for this swap.

Make sure your profile is well filled out! If your profile is blank or contains very little information, you will be removed from the swap prior to partners being assigned. I will also remove people at my discretion, but hopefully I won't have to.

Send your swap on time, and rate in a timely manner according to the swap guidelines and swap-bot’s criteria, not how much you liked the swap (that's what hearts are for!) If you are unable to complete the swap on time for any reason, please drop out before the signup deadline, or if partners have already been assigned, contact your partner and host ASAP!

Suggested formats: .pdf, .doc, .png

Some ideas: (This section is not part of the swap requirements, but rather is meant to help & inspire you with your swaps)

You can create a page by hand, on paper or other media, and either scan it or take a good quality digital photograph to send to your partner. If you do this, make sure it is of a good, clear quality (at least 300 dpi) and sized correctly so that your partner could print it to add it to their book of shadows if they wish.

Open up a blank 8.5" x 11" canvas in your favorite art program and draw/add text/whatever you like!

Write an incantation, or some information in a word document and add borders and illustrations to make it look like an illuminated manuscript.

Consider layering images, text, and different elements based on your theme.

Avoid using .jpeg images to avoid image artifacting. You can use .png or another image format (if you’re putting images into a .pdf or .doc, make sure to save them as .png or similar and not .jpeg/.jpg)

If you're not sure how to make a digital book of shadows page, or how it will turn out, it is highly suggested you try making a page (& test printing it) and seeing if you can complete this swap BEFORE partners are assigned. That way you can reach out with any questions, or drop out if you do not think you can fulfil the requirements & spirit of the swap.

That’s it! Welcome to the group, and happy swapping! If you have any questions feel free to post them below!

I will angel anyone whose partner flakes (after they have been rated 1), but let’s get off to a good start so I don’t need to!

Some of my favorite resources, feel free to share yours:
dafont.com - tons of free fonts for download
unsplash.com - tons of high quality images free for use
pinterest.com - an obvious one, but a great source of inspiration
