1 Partner: Global I am going to make this a monthly series if there is enough interest. How it works: You send a partner an envelope of goodies for the purpose of creating a page in their gluebook. The kinds of things appropriate to send are random papers (interesting, patterned, etc), flat stickers, magazine cut outs, cut out book images, pieces of ephemera, found words and phrases, washi tape samples, napkins, some scrap papers left over from other projects as long as they aren’t too tiny and not dirty, etc. If you would use it in a gluebook yourself, its ok to send. Keep the selection to enough for an average page in a gluebook. A couple extra bits is fine, but we want to keep the postage reasonable. The Challenge: When you receive your envelope, the challenge is to use only what you receive to create your page in your gluebook. You don’t have to use everything, but you can’t add anything extra. You can keep anything you don’t use one month to add to future months. Make sense? When judging how much and what to send, select things you would use in your own gluebook, but also remember it does not all have to coordinate. Have fun with it and choose a variety of things. Think of background pieces, focal points and all things in between. Please send enough to cover a decent sized page with a couple extra bits. Also, if what you receive one swap does not inspire you, save it to add to pieces from the next swap. Hints and Tips: When mailing napkins, remove the white layers to help keep the envelope flat and lighter. When sending stickers, keep them flat and without layers or bumpy bits that add to postage costs. For added interest, use a die cutter to cut some shapes etc from some papers. Used postage stamps are great collage fodder. Wrap washi tape around a piece of clear acetate. If sticking it on wax paper, make sure to use the waxed side..it doesn’t come off the other side well. Lightly decorate your envelope for added interest. Have fun! |
