Back by popular demand... Okay, ONE person asked for a repeat, but that's good enough for me!
It's so much fun to sew with vintage linens. I love the idea of making something cool from "nothing", and I love that retro/shabby look. There are so many possibilities!! Here are a few links to get you inspired:
In this swap, you'll have 3 partners. You'll take one sheet (twin size or larger), cut it into 4 equal pieces, send one piece to each of your partners and keep the last one for yourself. So when we're done, you'll have four different pieces to create with.
The specifics:
The sheet needs to be at least twin-sized (approximately 66 x 96 inches), so the pieces you send to your partners will be at least approximately 33x48 inches (about a yard of fabric). You can cut off the hems if you like.
Please only use FLAT sheets, as they will be in better condition than fitted ones.
You can use 100% cotton or a cotton/poly blend, but no flannel, jersey, satin, silk, etc.
Please only use sheets that are in good condition. Some fading and wear is to be expected, but carefully inspect the pieces you send out to make sure there are no holes, stains or very worn spots that would make them unusable.
The color/print is wide open (except no solid colors!), but obviously you should choose something you personally like! Let's try to stick to the 50's-60's-70's era. Check out the links above for some great examples. Please do not request specific prints or color schemes for yourself, since it will be impossible with multiple partners.
EDITED TO ADD: Please do not "forward" items within this swap. If one of your partners sends early, do not pass along their item to someone else in this swap. With multiple partners, there is a real chance that someone will end up with a duplicate, and that is just no fun. It would also be best if you didn't forward items from the previous round of this swap, for the same reason. There's no way to check or enforce that, so it's not mandatory, but it would be much more in the spirit of the swap to send "new" items to your partners. And it shouldn't be difficult - find a sheet, cut it up, send it out! :-)
Participants:
This will be US/Canada only this time, in case there were folks who stayed out last time because of postage concerns. (If someone else wants to host an international version, you're totally welcome to copy this swap).
You must have at least a 4.8 rating, with at least a few snail-mail swaps and no unexplained 1s. I will allow newbies, if you PM me ahead of time and have a filled-out profile.
I will angel if needed, but I sure hope it won't be!
