Description:

I love making and/or decorating matchboxes. However, Canada Post rates have gone up quite a bit and they’re becoming very expensive to mail out.

Therefore, I decided to open a swap for Canadians only. I figured that shipping local would probably be less expensive and would save the hassle of a customs declaration. My apologies to USA and International swappers, it’s nothing personal, but I’m really on a tight budget lately.

If this swap goes well, it could be the first of a series of different themed matchboxes, so Canadians, keep your eyes open.

For this swap, you will either decorate a 32 ct matchbox or create one from Rachel’s template. Then, fill the matchbox with all kinds of goodies (stickers, buttons, pins, brads, charms, ribbons, figurines, or whatever else you can think of!). It’s senders choice theme. You will have one partner. Once completed, please wrap it up safely and send it to your partner.

Ratings:

· Please rate your partner as soon as package is received;

· 5s should be given out based on whether the package meets the swap requirements, NOT whether you like it or not;

· Hearts could be given out to those who do an excellent job, or who go above and beyond (ex: profile surprise).

Requirements:

· You must have a rating of 4.8+ with no recent no sends;

· No unexplained 1's or 3's or you will be banned;

· Newbies allowed with 2 rated mailed swaps and a WELL filled out profile.

I will check profiles before assigning partners and I will ban anyone who seems fishy. I might sound harsh but I’m trying to avoid unpleasant experience. If any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to PM me (communication is the key).

This swap is meant to be fun, so PLEASE no flakers. Should there be any, I will Angel if necessary.

We really need to do some more Canada only swaps. Come on you Canadians, let's do it!

TeePeeMaiden 05/24/2009 #

Hey Jennie,I couldn't agree with you more.I have host a canadian only before.We sure could use more.What part of canada are you from?

Toupti 05/24/2009 #

I'm glad to see people agree with me. I hope we will be able to attract many people in this swap because I intend to do more in the near future. =D Let's hope we will all have a fun swap.

Glad to see this swap - I've stopped making anything besides ATC's because of the postage costs. Should be better sending just in Canada, maybe!! As long as it fits in that skinny little slot!

Yes you are wright user 69378. I actually use a regular enveloppe and Rachel matchbox template because the matchbox is thin. I wrap it in a little piece a bubble wrap and it does usually fits. We'll try and see! =D

I would love to join but i'm just too busy right now. Next time :) Thanks for the invite.

Thanks for inviting me to this swap - it's nice to see Canadian swaps. I've never made a decorated matchbox before.

The matchboxes I have handy are 30 ct Redbird matchboxes. Would that be close enough to the right size (if not, I can make one from the template)?

Toupti 05/31/2009 #

Hi @nsstwo

I have no problems with a 30ct matchbox as long as it's well filled. Please feel free to join. I do sometimes use 40ct matchboxes since these are the only ones I can find in my area. Otherwise, I use the templates.

Do wathever suits you best. =D
