Description:

I love the idea of a 13 days of Halloween swap. However, the ones I've seen so far are for purchased or handmade, with an emphasis on purchased. I'd like to go just the opposite. Let's do a 13 Crafty Days of Halloween swap.

You will have one partner, and you will send your partner 13 handmade loosely Halloween-themed items. Each item needs to be marked for the day you want your partner to open it. They don't have to be completely Halloweeny, but should be able to be interpreted in a Halloweeny way. (i.e. could include a pair of handmade black and orange earrings...not Halloweeny, but fit the theme. Get it?)

Keep in mind that these items can be any type of craft, so if you are very picky about the kinds of crafted items you would like to receive, this swap is probably not for you. It is not necessary, but would be nice, if you can look at your partner's profile and try to include one or two things that you think s/he would like based on their profile.

For days 1-12, items can be kind of small, as long as they are handmade. For day 13, try to make the item a bit nicer. For instance, it could be a scarf made in their favorite color, a mini altered book done to their preferences, or perhaps a collaged cigar box.

Since this is a swap with a large commitment, I must limit it to those with ratings above 4.9, and with no 1's within the past 6 months. People who are new now (in July) should have plenty of time to get swaps under their belt. However, you must have at least 5 craft/package type swaps completed by the swap signup deadline.

All participants must have signed in to their profile within the week before the swap signup deadline.

Due to multiple requests, I made this an international swap. Please be sure that you are willing to ship internationally before signing up for this swap.

If you have any questions, PM me.

Let the Halloween crafting begin!

this sounds really cool, but a lot of my ideas are for bigger items (that may take me a while to make)...anyone willing to share some ideas so i can join too?!

kim - some thoughts - ornament, earrings, necklace, charms, ATC, notecards, stuffie, compilation CD, tote bag, small jewelry box, shrine, matchbox, pillowcase...

Anyone else got ideas to share?

keychain, door hanger, covered journal (made from a composition book), felt sewing book for keeping needles and pins together...

Keep in mind that you can start making the items now. Only the "special" item needs to be directly related to your partner. The rest of the items just need to be loosely Halloween Themed (or Halloween Colors, etc.)

Also keep in mind that with the large variety of Halloween interpretations these days, you have a wide range of colors to choose from that can be considered halloween. So, to me, any items with the following color combinations would be acceptable (please feel free to provide additional input): orange and black; purple and green (with or without orange and black); red and black. These are the only ones that immediately come to mind, but if you end up embellishing it with spooky things, nearly anything can become Halloween. :-)

Hallo ladies. I have had a question as to whether or not the items could be handmade by someone other than ourselves. In my opinion this would be fine, because my sole intent in creating this swap was to avoid the typical "candy and mass produced Halloween knick-knacks" trap that we could easily fall into with a non-handmade swap. If anyone has any other thoughts about this, please let me know, but otherwise, I'll say that it would be fine with me.

Ideas for swap: small handmade notebooks, ATC, handmade candy rolls, handmade Halloween ornaments, note cards, button cards, nice package of fabric in fall colors, package of nice paper in fall colors. I think any kind of handmade and lovingly assembled and packaged gift is great.

I am such a BAAAAAD swap recipient. I already received my package, and it looked so tempting of course there was no way I could wait nearly a month to start opening them. So I ripped into all of them right away. They are all absolutely wonderful! Thank you to my partner. I loved everything you sent.
