Location:Regional - USA
Type:Type 2: Flat mail
Last day to signup/drop:September 14, 2009
Date items must be sent by:September 21, 2009
Number of swap partners:1
Description:

Objective:
We will swap two magazines. One based on your partners profile and one of your choice. USA swappers please..

  • The magazines you send/receive should be less than a year old.
  • The magazines needs to be clean, uncut, free of smells, and no missing or loose pages.
  • The cover and pages should not be torn, dog eared and free of marks.
  • A magazine is something purchased and not the freebee brochures that come as junk mail.
  • What ever you send should be something you would be pleased to receive.

For the Profiled Magazine: examples.. If your partner’s profile mentions, scrap booking, photography and fashion, you would not send a magazine about sports. If you are in doubt, contact your partner.
If your partner’s profile has a “dislike” for Disney, religion, horror….you would not send anything in those areas, so please read through their profile. Again, if you are not sure, contact your partner. Easy Peezie..

Your Choice Magazine:
Follow the guide lines above and send your choice. Perhaps your partner will discover a new interest or type of craft to try out.
You can list below in comments your LIKES and DISLIKES..

BORING BUT NECESSARY RULES!
Non senders will be banned from future swaps. And posted on every Flaker list available. You must have a 4.85 rating or higher to participate. No 3’s or 1’s in the last 3 months. Newbies are welcome with a profile that has been filled out in detail. This means share with us more than a few words. Give some details otherwise your partner will not know what type of magazine to send. If you do not follow through on this swap….YOU ARE A FLAKER…………and this is not acceptable…. I reserve the right to ban anyone from the swap, if I feel they will not be able to fulfill the swap criteria. No flakers! If you see a known Flaker sign up, please let me know and I will contact them. I'd rather lose a Flaker than a bunch of good swappers. If you feel you have an unfair rating contact me and explain.
Hearts to be given at your discretion.

I just thought I would make it easier on my partner by listing a few likes and dislikes here:

Likes: love quilting, sewing, art, jewelry, cooking magazines. am open to learning new crafts especially ones dealing with the holidays. Magazines on how to sew curtains, slip covers, home decor are nice (just bought our first home). Also looking for one with ideas to sew for baby.

Dislikes: church style crafts (i.e. plastic canvas), needlepoint, paper craft, scrap booking, and "cheesy" crafts

megalynn 08/28/2009 #

Likes: Cosmopolitan (or any fashion mag other than the teen ones), Scrapbooking, Paper Crafts, Jewelry, National Geographic (or any type of nature mag), Birds and Blooms, anything Halloween related, Harry Potter, LOST, and I'm open to learning new crafts as long as they aren't too complicated.

Dislikes: Children's mags, Teen Fashion mags, Woman's Day, please nothing religious, needlepoint, cooking (unless it is Halloween or Christmas themed), and I guess just check out my profile for anything else. :)

i would love any crafting magazines, like knitting or sewing. I already get almost every womens magazine (from good housekeeping to vogue to glamour, I get them all). but health (like yoga or something like that) or food (cooking and such) would be awesome too. I love magazines!
oh and megalynn made me think too - I love LOST :-)

I LOVE craft and sewing magazines like Craft N things, Paper Crafts, Sew Easy, Sew Beautiful, Creating Keepsakes, Quick Quilts, The Quilter, The quilt maker, American Patchwork & quilting, Craft & home projects. I also amd crazy about Variety puzzle and games** (not crossword or sudoku) also Everyday with Rachel Ray and Sandra Lee Semi homemade. Would like an Ellery queen or Alfred Hitchock one also, haven't seen one in a while not sure if they make them anymore.

Likes: cross stitch, paper crafts, knitting, magazines like Craft and Make(you can get old issues really cheap at Urban Outfitters, if you have one near you - look in the clearance section), foreign fashion magazines(you can usually find them at Borders and B&N - they can sometimes be a little pricey, but there is a huge price range to choose from), advertising, altered art and clothing, writing, anything having to do with autism(except for anything that supports the autism myths - vaccines cause autism, special diet is a cure-all, anything Jenny McCarthy and/or Jim Carrey have to say, etc. As someone with autism, I find these very insulting to my intelligence and very harmful to the progress of research and treatment.), feminism(except for Bust, because I already subscribe to it), athiesm or skepticism, city-specific titles, travel, cooking, lifestyle(Real Simple).

Dislikes: Religious, Cosmopolitan, anything overtly sexist, "lad mags"(Maxim, FHM, etc.), anything overtly political(and nothing remotely Conservative).

Mags I already subscribe to: ReadyMade, Bust, W, Elle, Elle Decor, Allure, CatFancy.

Lets see...I would love any magazines on jewelry making, altered art, papercrafts, mixed media, anything with a mix of crafts and home like martha stewart or country living (although I have the one with the spider cake on front)! I would also like any on ebay, small business or website business building/promotion etc. I also enjoy variety puzzle books. Not so fond of cosmopolitan, suduko, needlepoint. Thanks much!

Well, we have a nice group here.. and I want to thank you all for joining.. I will be assigning partners soon and just have some reminders.. Check the comments section for additional information about your partners..Or if in doubt, send them a message.. When you mail out your magazines. please do so by the deadline.. (Sept 21) and package them well.. Please rate your partner. Check the guidelines for rating. You are not rating your partner on weather or not you like what you received or anything extra that may be sent.... Ratings are important because some new people will need to build up their ratings just to join other swaps. When you receive your package please rate your partner in a timely manner.. Happy Swapping!
