Description:

I found this amazing swap that was done by @misnatalie a few months ago and she kindly let me host another one...

The best thing about international swaps is that every now and then you receive something that you can't get where you live.

In this swap, you will send a few items unique to your area to your partner... something that is easy for you to get but not for your partner. Food is the easiest, but you don't have to send food. A combination of both would be nice. Postcards or souvenir items should count as extras. Have a look at your partner's profile and mail them if you have any questions. Your package should be worth at least $5 before shipping. This is a nice opportunity to spoil your partner and get a heart☺

You must have 5 rated snail mail swaps under your belt (postcards do not count) and no no-sends or 1s in the past few months. If you need to explain anything, or if you don't meet the requirements and want to convince me that you will send, mail me.

Questions ? Mail me !

sounds like a fun swap!!! I live in NE Ohio, there are quite a few things that are regional to here. Also, will we be checking profiles to see what our partners might like? I adore teas, coffee, dark chocolate, mint, fruit, vanilla, fabrics, colorful things. I am very allergic to rosemary, cannot have it at all. Love my dog!

I'll be watching this. Sounds like such a fun idea! There's a weekly farmer's market with LOTS of really unique things here in my town that I'd love to share. Unfortunately, I'm new to swap-bot and am only about to participate in my first post-card swap. Plus, I need to watch my budget to be sure I'd be able to afford this by the deadline right now. But I want to watch this just in case everything changes and I get some more swaps under my belt. I really love this idea! =D Have fun!!

timeerkat 09/ 8/2009 #

cinderella730 09/21/2009 #

what a GREAT swap this is!!!!! I'll have to join right away!! I'm in North Carolina, USA

I don't think I could list random things I'd want from another country... other than YARN!!! maybe perfume?!?! I make it a point to buy a nice perfume from each country I visit (which has only been Ireland (bought Eire, and LOVED IT!!) and Italy (can't remember the name of the perfume, but it was WONDERFUL!!))

I wonder what would be good for things from North Carolina to send my partner?!?!

And then one from each of the following:

mikkisgrmom 09/23/2009 #

this really sounds like fun!! I am from Woodstock, Illinois. Love fabric or yarn, anything really.

cormz 09/23/2009 #

Seems like I'm the first Norwegian joining. What do we have here, not to be found elsewhere?

BTW, I love M&M's, both the brown and the yellow bag (and we can't buy them here.) And yarn, I LOVE yarn.

When we get our partners, the person my partner are welcome to send me an PM with request for Norwegian stuff.

Masterbard 09/24/2009 #

Hey, Cleopatra - did you count me as Canadian (nationality) or South Korean (place of residence)? :) Just wondering... and thanks again!

cleopatra 09/24/2009 #

I didn't count you in that one... you hadn't joined by then. But the way I made that tally was to look at everyone's profile and count up the Country they had listed at the top. So, when I do my final count, I will count you as South Korean

:)

Come on watchers, join !

SkippyMom 09/24/2009 #

Are we supposed to send what people want or what they can't get where they live? I thought it was the latter, but I thought things like yarn and fabric were available everywhere? Or is some yarn/fabric simply indigenous to our own countries?

I am a little confused. Sorry.

wildflowertea 09/24/2009 #

What a wonderful swap! I love sharing thing from my area - Washington state in the USA. I love surprises from other areas of the US and countries around the world.

cleopatra 09/24/2009 #

You're meant to send things that are unique to where you live (ie: things that they can't get where they live). I'm not sure why people are asking for yarn and stuff ?

IssueGirl 09/24/2009 #

Just signed up from Tennessee. Elvis, anyone? Can't wait!

polar 09/24/2009 #

Here from Nh.. I look forward to this swap.

WritersSoul 09/25/2009 #

Moontear28 09/26/2009 #

Another American from Southern California. If I'm your partner feel free to request something from here and I'll see what I can do.

As for me I would love anything from another country like Kinders or miniature trinket toys or anything that represents your county :)

Will be fun!

shinywen 09/26/2009 #

Joined, but I want to note (and will do so on my profile as well) that I can't send or receive chocolate, unfortunately. It's still very hot in Arizona and it will absolutely melt in transit =(

mommyandwife 09/27/2009 #

I wish someone would host someting like this for newbies. I just found this site today and joined, i'd love to this this but have nothing under my belt :(

Gothicrise 09/27/2009 #

I'm from Italy

wildflowertea 09/27/2009 #

Some one wondered why anybody would ask for yarn. Ask any knitter. There are wonderfully diverse yarns from all over the world. Most knitters would love to receive a hank, skein or ball of yarn from another country. I certainly would.

stacirose 09/28/2009 #

At any rate, living in San Francisco, we have China Town downtown, Japantown down the street, Russian bakeries and stores down Geary Street, various shops to get Cadbury Chocolates...I mean, besides California or San Francisco souvenirs, there's a lot of culture here to tap into as well. :)

I'm really excited...and SO shocked to see so many that have joined! I hope everyone has fun! :D

cleopatra 09/28/2009 #

@mommyandwife The reason that many hosts don't allow newbies in package swaps is because newbies don't have a swap record which helps in finding flakers. Although it has never happened to me, I can imagine that the worst thing is to host a swap in which one of your participants were flaked on !

That being said, I also know exactly what it's like being a newbie (especially an international newbie) and that is why in my description I have stated that if you want to convince me that you will send, mail me. I take these mails as a sign of commitment to not flaking and allowed everyone who mailed me to join.

@wildflowertea Thank you for clearing that up ! I'm obviously not a knitter so I couldn't understand the want for diverse yarns:)

cleopatra 09/28/2009 #

cleopatra 09/28/2009 #

So that's 37 USA and 66 internationals

Partners have been assigned

I hope that no one receives anything from the place that they live in. if you are assigned to someone in the same state as you, please mail me to let me know and I will arrange a small package of South African goodies for you !

OpheliaQuilts 09/28/2009 #

This is an awesome swap, but it's too bad that the USA folks can't be guaranteed foreign partners. All the same, I'm looking forward!

cleopatra 09/28/2009 #

The second one is here. I am being very strict in that one, so newbies do not even try.

kazaguruma 09/28/2009 #

yaay i was the 1st one from brazil to sign in 8DDD

Masterbard 09/30/2009 #

Wow, so delighted! My send-to partner has lots of stuff on her 'can't get here' list that I CAN get really easily here (which, let me tell you, doesn't happen all that often) - do you hosts read EVERYONE's profile and match us up somehow? Seems like that would be insanely difficult.... but however it happened, I'm happy and hope she will be too :D

MishyBelle 09/30/2009 #

I hope my partner isn't too disappointed! I live in Ohio and she lives next door in Michigan! I'll send you something extra-special from my area, I promise! :)

cleopatra 10/ 3/2009 #

I really wish hosts could assign partners because then I would definitely go through everyone's profiles and find the best partner for each person.

Partners are assigned completely at random by the computer.

lovestosew 10/ 5/2009 #

I'm just curious...... If we have 37 swappers from the U.S. and 41 from other countries, then how is it that we don't all have an International partner???????? Kind of a bummer. Dissapointed but I will still try to send some really neat stuff to my U.S. partner.

cleopatra 10/ 7/2009 #

That is because the computer randomly assigns partners. I have no control over who gets who:(

cinderella730 10/14/2009 #

I am trying to get to the second swap... but it says the link doesn't work. :o( what is the name of it, I'll do a search. :o)

LOVE this swap!!
