Description:

I'm participating in my first ever ATC swap this month. Why didn't you guys tell me these were so fun to make? Shame on you! :)

I thought it would be fun to put together a possible series swap on ancient Egyptian gods. The first ATC will be on Horus. If this swap goes well, I will also host swaps for Anubis, Ra, Osiris, Seth and a few more.

A little info on Horus:

He is probably most well-known as the protector of the ruler of Egypt. The Egyptians believed that the pharaoh was the 'living Horus'. The ancient Egyptians had many different beliefs about the god Horus. One of the most common beliefs was that Horus was the son of Isis and Osiris. After Osiris was murdered by his brother Seth, Horus fought with Seth for the throne of Egypt. In this battle, Horus lost one of his eyes. The eye was restored to him and it became a symbol of protection for the ancient Egyptians. After this battle, Horus was chosen to be the ruler of the world of the living.

You will each have 1 partner and you will make 1 ATC. Please take your time and make something nice. They dont have to be overly extravagant but don't just slap a sticker on it. Make something that you would like to get in return.

You could throw in some extra small goodies for a heart. :)

This will be an international swap.

I am leaving this open to those of you who have at least a 4.8 with no recent 1's or 3's, and for newbies as long as you have a filled out profile. (It's not hard and takes no time at all.)

Cheers!

heh i have a feeling my Olympian gods series might've inspired this one--Glad someone's doing it! I might not participate but I hope this series goes as well as mine has so far.

Thanks Katarina. I didn't know you had started one. I usually don't watch the ATC swaps because I literally did my first one last night :)

Ooo I'm excited about this swap (and the others yet to be)! I love anything ancient Egypt! I only started doing ATCs this past Summer and I'm hooked..what's nice is only having to do one or two of a card...within our attention span LOL but we can really have fun with it!

Thanks for joining Cindy!

Nice to see this one go up. I just finished hosting an Ancient Egypt one, and a series of gods and goddesses was next :) Now, I don't have to worry about it! :)

I just wanted to join, but then I read again this send extras for hearts thing.

From the FAQ: "What are hearts and how do I give them?

If someone sends you an extra special swap package that far exceeds the swap requirements, you can give that person a heart. The option to give someone a heart only appears when you give them the highest rating ("5 - I got my stuff and it met posted swap requirements"). Under this rating option a check box will appear that you can mark if you want to give a heart. You do not have to give anyone a heart just because you gave them the highest rating. We suggest that you reserve giving hearts to those swappers who you think deserve even more than the highest rating (more than 5 points). The number of hearts a person has collected will be shown on their profile page next to their average rating. Lots of hearts indicates a very special swapper!"

This is SO cool - my favorite Egyptian God is Horus. :-) I think I can find something that will fulfill the requirements. ;-)

I just participated in the Ancient Egypt swap hosted by TheJuiceBox (above) and I had so much fun doing my cards!!

What, no love for the laides? Isis, Nut?
Seriously though, this is a fun idea. I just finished another Ancient Egypt ATC swap and it was so fun.

Mia, When you send your ATC out, you may throw in some profile based goodies if you wish. Say someone like chocolate and you send a little candy bar, they may rate you a 5 and give you a heart. Does that make sense?

Cindy, I totally missed that swap. I wouldve been the first to sign up! :)

Akhenaten, I wanted to see how this one went before I made the series. It looks like it's going good so far. I'll probably start adding the others and I hope you all sign up for those as well! So, any requests?

MiaParanoia 10/28/2009 #

It would make sense if people would rate the swap and not the extras. I put a lot of effort in swaps and that is what should be rated. Not if you sent something extra.

IssueGirl 10/28/2009 #

Mia, I wasnt saying that you had to send something extra to get a heart :)

"The first ATC will be on Osiris. If this swap goes well, I will also host swaps for Anubis, Ra, Osiris, Seth and a few more." you say the first will be Osiris but it's actually Horus. :)

Clearly I hadnt had enough coffee that day :) Thanks for pointing it out!
