Description:

This is the third swap in my letter writing series...

For this swap you'll each have one partner. Write a handwritten letter to your partner telling them the story of how you met your significant other. Include things like:

-Where you met -When you met -Who spoke first -What your first impression of him/her was -Was anyone else involved in the meeting -Where did you go on your first date

You don't have to include all of this information, and you're more than welcome to go into more detail. If there's a funny story involved, or something really sweet happened, tell your partner about it in the letter. The goal is to try and describe your first meeting with your significant other so that your partner can picture it, without having actually been there.

There are no definite page limits for this one, but you shouldnt have a problem filling at least a page. We all love to brag about our significant others. There's also no max page limit.

EDIT: A couple of people have spoken up about the hand written issue, and i want everyone to be able to participate, so i'm changing the requirements... Letters may be either hand written or typed, but still need to be mailed, and not sent by email.

There are no joining requirements either. Anyone can join. I'll angel no-sends personally, so everyone who writes a letter will receive one.

This swap is international.

I'd love to join but my handwriting is horrible, with many omits and cross-outs. At least on the computer, I can keep up with my thoughts and there is always the backspace key.

Sorry I have to miss this one.

Cross-outs and such are fine. I think they add character.

If i get enough people saying "ack! handwritten!", i may change it, but for now, i think handwritten is more personal. We're each only sending our letters to one other person, so it's more personal if we sit down and hand write that person a letter.

I would like to sign up but my carpel tunnel has made it difficult for me to write very much and the legibility is not very good.

MAT 07/11/2007 #

Thanks for the change. I am in.

It looks like I'll have to drop from this. My significant other left me last night.

CandyStar 07/19/2007 #

Wow, Windy - I'm so so so sorry. :(

ferretlady 07/22/2007 #

Windy, so sorry to hear that!! ((HUGS)) to you & hope that life gets better for you soon!

RE: the handwritten part. My handwriting is not the greatest, but I will still hand-write my letter -- I guess I'm old-fashioned & feel that it is more personal that way.

Whoever is assigned as my partner, I would be thrilled to get a hand-written letter, even if you think your writing is sloppy! Now, if it is physically difficult for you to hand-write, then please do type it, by all means! But if you wouldn't mind hand-writing your letter, I'd love it, regardless of legibility!

Hi there, I just signed up for this swap because the story I have to tell is quite funny. Just wanted to add a few thoughts: When I'm writing to my godchild, I first type the letter because I can let my thoughts flow on the computer. But when the letter is finished, I write it down manually because that's much more personal. Maybe this method suits some of you, too. Plus, as a font designer, I am always happy about interesting handwritings.

@Windy I'm also sorry to hear that, hope you're feeling better soon.

my letter is all done =)

user9062 07/29/2007 #

Thank you for being such sincere sweethearts.
Needless to say, I am still feeling like a broken toy. But, time will heal me? I hope so.

elusivecallie 08/ 9/2007 #

Hey kittenmeowmeow, you don't have to be married... i'm not.. It could be a spouse, a current boyfriend or girlfriend, a fiancee, or even a past boyfriend or girlfriend...

user9760 08/10/2007 #

I was wondering if typers could could swap with typers and hand-writers could swap with hand-writers. I would be disappointed to get a typed letter. to me, It is so impersonal and why mail it when it could be printed from any computer? There may be a lot of people who don't care either way. I trade ATCs also-and I feel the same way when I send out an original and get a print in return. I would like to join the swap, but I would prefer to get a hand-written letter in return. Maybe GreedyGoretti and I should exchange because my story is a little...well, it's certainly not a story we share at family gatherings! I sent off my fist 3 swaps from SwapBot this week, so, I am new to the group and don't really have a feel for the way things go here. I'm not trying to be difficult-just putting in my 2 cents.

TerryF 08/10/2007 #

b.jordan: Unfortunately, that cannot be done. The host has no control over who is assigned which partner - it is all done randomly by the system. Also, your sending and receiving partners will be different.

HopeWilbanks 08/11/2007 #

When will partners be assigned? All I see is the list of participants. Thanks! :)

MeyRosly 08/11/2007 #

totally agree wif Hope

kittenmeowmeow 08/13/2007 #

partners yet?

elusivecallie 08/13/2007 #

Sorry! Caught a case of the "ICK of DOOM" this weekend, and spent the whole weekend wandering around like a zombie... forgot all about the partners needing to be assigned....

It's done now... If only getting rid of the headcold from hell were as easy....

CraftyDiana 08/14/2007 #

elusivecallie 08/20/2007 #

Just a reminder, letters are due out today!!! I'll be sending messages to any folk who havent indicated they sent, to remind them.

PisceanMama 08/20/2007 #

Better late than never! I did manage to get mine out today after all!

elusivecallie 08/21/2007 #

Messages went out to those of you who havent yet indicated that you sent your letters. If you already sent them, please change your status to "sent". If you have not yet sent your letters, please message your partners and let them know when you intend to mail them, and why they will be late.

Also, a reminder. I've volunteered to angel no-sends on this one. So, if the two week mark hits, and you don't get a letter, and haven't heard anything from your partner on when or if it'll be sent, drop me a message, and i'll send a letter out to you. Everyone who sent a letter WILL receive one.

Hope you're enjoying your letters!

AnkeArnold 08/22/2007 #

Hi there, my letter to betsybryant went out today. Sorry for the delay, we had a broken water pipe in our house and the last week has been quite chaotic :(

elusivecallie 09/ 4/2007 #

I'm starting to send out angel letters. I've sent messages to people who are supposed to receieve from the swappers who still haven't clicked "i sent my items". If anyone else has issues, or doesnt receieve anything, please let me know.

As promised, you'll all receieve a letter if you sent one out, so please drop me a message here on swap bot if you need anything.
