Dotee Doll 4 Beginners #1: Mother Earth I just received my first dotee doll and I would love to try my hand at making one, but I'm a little too shy or nervous to join the established dotee doll swaps or groups. Maybe that describes you as well? You've wanted to try making one but weren't sure about joining something with established dotee doll makers? This swap is for YOU! Established dotee doll makers welcome too, just realize some of us are beginners and you might get a doll that's not quite as detailed or done as well as yours! Please do your homework and research about dotee dolls before making one. There's lots of sites and pictures to see examples on the 'net. Your dotee doll should be around 3-4 inches tall. Your dotee doll should have a hanger and a tail of some kind. Your dotee doll should be in the theme of "Mother Earth". For myself, I'm thinking along the lines of a mother earth goddess-like doll but you could really do anything that is earthy or nature related. Newbies welcome with a FILLED out profile. Otherwise 4.9 with no unexplained 1's or 3's. Feel free to contact me if there is an issue. I do ban from swaps when needed, it's never personal. I'm currently watching this swap - I'm going to have to try out making one first, before I commit myself! But I just found this tutorial so I thought I would share with fellow novices. :-)

Nice, thank you. Yeah my mother and I spent last night making them, they take surprisingly a long time to do (at least for me), even with my mother at the sewing machine and me doing embellishments. We got four done in one whole evening. It was so much fun giving them their own little personalities.

I can barely sew on a button so this was a real effort for me, thankfully my mother sewed the bodies for me. I did hand sew the ribbons and tails and faces and boy did that take forever! You are so creative, I really do hope you try it out!

Interesting! I'd never heard of dotee dolls before I joined Swap-Bot, but I've done some research (yay Google) and they look like a ton of fun for experimenting and using up fabric and other scraps and generally getting crazily creative. Count me in!

I read up on dotee dolls and they said 3-5 inches. I made mine already and its 5 inches. Is that ok?

I hope you do this one again - I really want to join a Dotee swap, but I have a little much going on right now. I've decided I want to attempt it before joining a swap just so I know I can do it.
