Description:

This is for all the garden lovers and green thumbs out there.

For this swap you will keep a journal for one month and everyday write about something relating to your garden. Examples of entries are, a discription of your garden, the crop you have just picked, home recipes for pesticides, recipes using produce in your garden, your success with companion planting, growing tips, home remedies using medicinal herbs you grow or even a discription of the caterpillars you found on your cumquet that morning (yes that is what happened to me this morning). You can also write about worm farms and compost, all things that relate to gardening.

You don't even have to have a big garden. If you grow in pots at your window you can still join in. Write about the kind of garden you would have if you had the space and all the things you would do with it. You could include information on plants native to your area.

One criteria though is to include a small envie with a gift for your partner. I doesn't have to be gardening themed it can be anything nice ie. stickers etc. Please do not include seeds unless you are sure they will pass customs and get to your partner.

You must also include at least one photo, picture (can be magazine cut out) or hand drawing of a plant you have in your garden. But I hope you will include more than just one.

The journal can be store bought or hand made but if it is store bought you will need to decorate the front and back.

Please no 1 ratings in the recent past. Because people will be putting a lot of work into this (I hope) I will be going throuhg peoples profiles and if anyone has a low rating I will be discussing thing with them. Anyone I have doubts about will be banned.Newbies are welcome with a well filled out profile.

If you have any questions feel free to message me. Happy swapping.

I'm starting my first vegetable garden this year so this is perfect for me. I'm looking forward to see what other people are growing.

So we have to write everyday for a month ? This is a great time of the year for this swap, as there is lots happening in the garden here in the UK.

Would that time run from the 16 June to 16 July...or can we start as soon as we sign up and do a month from then?

This sounds so fun, but I don't anything about journaling. advise?

catestalkergc 05/26/2010 #

Yes, write one thing every day for a month. You can start as soon as you want, the month doesn't have to be after partners are asigned. The swap dates are from 16.06.10 to the 21.07.10 so even if you start after partners are assigned that is five weeks so you will have more than a month to get it done.

Thankyou to mwquilt for messaging me to ask if I am going to be banning doutful people (my words not hers, she was a lot more polite). I have edited the swap info. I haven't put I min rating but I will be checking everyone's profiles and will ban anyone I think will not fulfil the swap requirements.

This looks like fun! I just started some flower and veggie seedlings with my daughter last week, so this will be a great way for us to share our excitement about our plant babies with others!!!

I didn't realise how much I do little bits of stuff in my garden, or do stuff relating to my garden, until I started keeping track for this journal :-)

My husband and I have even been doing jobs that I would normally put off, so I have something interesting to write about. This swap is a very good influence :-)

Does the journal have to be hand written? I love the idea but I couldn't guarantee that I could actually hold a pen every day.

mwquilt 06/10/2010 #

sorry I had to drop from this swap..unexpected family stuff.

catestalkergc 06/11/2010 #

If you are unable to to hand write each day I can't see why you can't type it. But please don't just print A4 sheets and staple them together, still make it into a book. Sorry to hear that you are dropping the swap mwquilt, but I understand when other things come up.
