Addicting to sewing? In love with shrink plastic? Well have I got the swap for you!

This swap is for the shrinky dink sewer in all of us. Let your creativity run wild and make your own designer head pins to use in sewing, paper crafting, or even home decor projects. The sky is the limit. You can use regular sewing pins or jewelry head pins doesn't matter.

For this swap, you will be making 2 sets of headpins with 5 headpins in each set. Please make each set a different design. You will send to 1 partner only. Please pay attention to color preferences of your swap partner.

Please note: If you would like to receive all headpins a different style, note that on your profile as well so your partner knows your preference. :)

Here is a tutorial link for your inspiration:

You can use this tutorial or experiment on your own.

Have fun and Happy Swapping! Michele

Oh my goodness! These are so neat!

SEMOkraftee 06/ 5/2010 #

What a cool idea! I'm going to play with this a bit before I join.

Watching for now.

cpbunch 06/ 5/2010 #

Thanks Crescendo . . I need to figure out how to add that link in. :)

cpbunch 06/ 5/2010 #

A great question was asked about using sewing pins or jewelry headpins. Either is fine. Only requirement. HAVE FUN!!! Woohoo!!

cpbunch 06/ 5/2010 #

FYI - I also updated the region to include Canada as well. I inadvertently left Canada out but this swap is very small package wise and think the postage won't be that expensive.

JenHuff 06/ 5/2010 #

Oh good Lord! I thought it was a head with a pin on it.. not a pin with a head on it!! tee-hee!!!!! I guess I'm a dyslexic reader!! LOL!!

missstamper 06/ 5/2010 #

lmao @JenHuff : )

katiewoo 06/ 6/2010 #

Oh my! How I wish I could join this swap! can you do an international - I live in England! The postage would be teensy!!

Where do you find shrinky dink plastic? I've never been able to find any in Hobby Lobby.

MoonHalo 06/ 6/2010 #

Hobby lobby does carry it. It is where the digital art stuff is near the scrapbooking aisle. There is sticker paper and rubon paper in that area. I just made some of these tonight with the clear and the white plastic and they do wonderful w the heat gun since they are so small. Had a blast doing them. best of all you can use your scrap plastics from the shrink film.

catchahug 06/ 6/2010 #

never heard of such a thing

MoonHalo 06/ 6/2010 #

I have a question for ya cpbunch, can they all be different or do ya have to have five like?

kellylynn9 06/ 6/2010 #

They also sell it by the kids craft things (hobby lobby and other stores). I found they put it in a couple of different places. These look super cute!

arielrobin 06/ 7/2010 #

Thanx @ MoonHalo & kellylynn9. I'll keep this on my watch list and if I can find the stuff I'll join. :) (Never looked in the scrapbooking isle for it but have in the children's craft department) Thanks again for the info.

Hey Deb. I was thinking two sets of the same style so if someone did want to use them for a project they would have enough but I think I'll leave that up to your partner to decide. Maybe we could all post our preferences on our profile of what we would like along with color combinations.

amuhleisen 06/ 8/2010 #

Michael's sells shrink plastic. I've been to 2 different stores and both had it in the stamping section.

cpbunch 06/ 8/2010 #

Thanks for the info amuhleisen!

missstamper 06/ 9/2010 #

I have to agree with you. This is going to be a given for my partner. :) This one is a great idea

staceyb 06/23/2010 #

A few tips from my practice pins: Clear Nail Polish is an excellent sealer as shrinkies tend to run if gotten wet. Also, a dab of Diamond Glaze or other hard drying glue on the tip will keep the dinks from dislodging from the head of the pin. So much fun and the swap hasn't even started yet lol! Thanks for posting this swap. :)

cpbunch 06/25/2010 #

Awh thanks!!!! I'm so glad you like the swap.

TeePeeMaiden 06/26/2010 #

I will have this on my watchlist,im going to try it first to make sure I can do it.

user6937 06/26/2010 #

6 recyclable plastic works like shrink plastic, so I've heard. Dairy Queen ice cream cups are #6.

user6937 06/26/2010 #

Good grief - I don't know why that is so big.
