There are several different ways to wrap a stone with wire ranging from basic and simple to advanced intricate techniques. In this swap, all skill levels are welcome. If you are new to wire wrapping you should head over toYouTube and watch some how-to videos on wrapping a stone in wire. Also check out Flickr for lots of great photos for inspiration. If you ARE new to this technique, just make sure you practice before you send your partner their stone and make sure it's something you'd be happy to receive. Eventually everyone develops their own sort of technique with wire wrapping and it'll be fun to receive someone else's wire-wrapped stone and see how they did it. Maybe you will learn a new technique. You will use one nice polished stone or cabochon that is at least 1 inch across from either top to bottom or side to side, shape does not matter. You can use any size/gauge of wire that you are comfortable with just make sure the stone is set in place securely and will not come loose. Look to your partners profile for inspiration on colors. If you'd like to attach your pendant to a necklace, feel free, but it is not required. If you have an allergy to metals, you might not want to join this swap as you may receive a pendant made from a wire that could irritate your skin. To enter this swap you must not have any recent unexplained 1's or 3's. Newbies are welcome with a filled out profile. You will have 2 weeks to sign up, and then 3 weeks to create and send your wire-wrapped pendant. |
