Swap Coordinator:YooperHill (contact)
Swap categories: Random Items  Themed  Seasonal
Number of people in swap:58
Location:Other
Type:None
Last day to signup/drop:October 24, 2007
Date items must be sent by:November 15, 2007
Number of swap partners:1
Description:

Fill a package with 25 small, wrapped gifts. Your partner will open a gift a day leading up to Christmas! You can number the gifts 1 through 24, or leave it a random luck of the draw, but please make sure the gift to be opened on christmas is special and identified as "christmas day." We did this swap last year and it was soooo fun.

Because this is a big effort swap, I have to set some big rules:

You must have been rated in 20 swaps. No history of no sends. A rating above 4.8

All items must be new or like new (unless they are vintage,) and in good condition. No dirty, "clean out your stash" types of items please!

Handmade is always appreciated!

I reserve the right to ban anyone, and will check and weed out the swap prior to assigning partners.

10/15/07 update - I've already contacted a few people who need to do some work or drop from this swap. I am also reviewing profiles to make sure people are logging on consistently.

I am making it US only so we can be assured the packages arrive before 12/1/07.

Here is a Europe only version inspired by this swap: http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/7000

Here is an Australian version: http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/7042

Here is the Canadian version inspired by this swap: http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/7438

On 9/20/07, I emailed the group asking if they would mind openning the swap to canadians. I had one person from Canada who was begging to get in. I told them if anyone did not want it, I would not allow it. I asked them to let me know by 10/2. On 9/20 I posted all this on the swap page so new players would know the rules would possibly change. It is now 10/9...and no one told me they were against it...I did get one PM saying let the Canadians play...so...Canadians, you are welcome to sign up!

Here is one for Kids only! http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/8000

Feel free to set up other international swap if you desire.

Oh my gosh, this sounds so fun! Stop making such fun swaps! I can't afford it!!! lol

Beckster 08/25/2007 #

Is there a $$ amount set for the gifts?

YooperHill 08/25/2007 #

um...nope. Don't see one!

Wanda 08/25/2007 #

Oh, this does sound like fun! I love shopping for swaps like this. One thing though - I don't yet have 20 swaps behind me, but I think I will by the closing date. So I am going to join this, and if I don't meet the requirements by the closing date, please just delete me from the swap. The reason I am joining now, is that if I don't, I won't see it again, and I will forget all about it. Thanks for your consideration.

Paula 08/25/2007 #

This was so much fun last year. I don't know which I enjoyed more, gathering up the gifts to send or having one to open daily.

Baglady 08/25/2007 #

Wow, I did this for my children, and now my grandchildren, I would start Dec. 1 and they would open a present a day until Christmas. I would wrap them in tissue paper hang them from a plastic hanger and each would have a pair of scissors hanging, They were all put on with curling ribbon. They each got a hanger for their room (I have three children) now 3 grandchldren each one goes home sometime in November with a hanger full of goodies. I would try to make them as cheap as possible. Ideas are: a pack of gum, a scratch off instant lottery ticket, a dollar bill rolled up, nail polish, a pack of sticky notes, a pack of stickers, a box of mints. Just something simple to let each child know I thought of them. I would use a different color ribbon for each one, red, green and blue, with white tissue paper. My children would love this tradition and my grandchildren love it also. I would participate in this but I am in the process of moving and I really don't have the time to do this, but I hope everyone has lots of fun!!!

slamophile 08/26/2007 #

25? Wow ~ This is better than Chanukkah!

Auntielle 08/26/2007 #

I don't have enough ratings to join this year, but it sounds like great fun. Have a wonderful time everybody! :o)

squintgrad 08/27/2007 #

woooooeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! what a great swap idea! I'm in.

pointypartyhat 08/29/2007 #

I can't join but this looks like fun! To anybody who participated last year- did any of you unwrap all the presents at once? I think I would have the will power!

YooperHill 08/29/2007 #

My partner was so cool! The gifts she sent still make me smile! I DID NOT open them all at once, and must say that I really looked forward to opening a little suprise-a-day!

luvcatzzz 08/31/2007 #

this swap sounds like SUCH FUN! too bad i'm a newbie - but hey! there's NEXT YEAR!!! :-D happy swapping to you guys and see you in '08!

FingersInc 08/31/2007 #

This sounds like too much fun not to join. ( My inner child is signing up for this I'll have you know!). Also, I bring my swaps to work, to have "show and tell" at lunchtime with the others at my table. They enjoy my mailbox as much as I do! Would any one that was in last year give us some ideas as to some of the "better" things they got as gifts, so we have more ideas on what to send? I love "baglady"'s comment above for her grand children.

YooperHill 09/ 2/2007 #

Well, I still rememember the paper ornament with bird feed in it. I loved it.

AliceAtTheBeach 09/ 6/2007 #

I really want to join in on the fun.I do not have 20 swaps yet. I have 14 so far.I have great ratings and I always send early. If I get deleted,I understand. Thanks

dreamrains 09/ 7/2007 #

wow this sounds like fun but it also sounds kinda stressful to try to gather up all of those things. I am in too many christmas swaps now to do this one, but it sounds like a blast - have fun!

Aerochik 09/ 7/2007 #

This one looks like a blast, I can't wait!!!

tamipal6 09/ 7/2007 #

I always do things like this for my kids. I LOVE Baglady's idea for the hanger! That's great! I'm going to have to try that! Well, this sounds like too much fun not to join. This year I will have my own surprises to open each day! That will be fun for a change!

grandmaroro 09/ 8/2007 #

Okay - I signed up last night. But now "my inner child" is making suggestions, crayons, colored pencils, chocolate, GUM, etc. Now my teenage self is chiming in with "pierced earrings" even though not everyone has pierced ears. The mother in me says to be sensible in my selections, and Grandma says to throw caution to the wind and just have fun. Oh my!!!! I can hardly wait. Hope I can stop buying at just 24, and I'm pretty sure the 25th will be handmade if my sight holds out. Maybe I can get the sewing machine fixed and make it first. OH - no stress allowed - just have fun.

KerrWriter 09/ 8/2007 #

I wish I could sign up for this one but don't have that many completed swaps since I have been doing lots of one on ones recently. I wish those could count :)

KerrWriter 09/ 8/2007 #

I wish I could sign up for this one but don't have that many completed swaps since I have been doing lots of one on ones recently. I wish those could count :)

Dibrittain 09/ 8/2007 #

This sounds like fun. I already have some great swap items I can use. My swap shopping has made a huge trunk full of brand new goodies for swaps. I best get to wrapping and find a box big enough to hold 25 items. Hint too those who send 1.00 bills good to do a paper folded item. They have alot of bill folding books out there. Makes it more creative. Throw in a xmas card to make it special.

Cnvingltlbtch 09/ 9/2007 #

This sounds like a lot of fun. What are some ideas that people are think of for the small gifts, so i know that i'm on the right track?

YooperHill 09/ 9/2007 #

Last year I remember Handmade Christmas Ornanment, small journal, small craft items, small bottle of lotion, small bottle of Canadian Maple syrup, picture frame, and hand sew pouch.

enakitty 09/ 9/2007 #

oh man....this sounds like the coolest swap ever! i haven't been rated on 20 swaps tho :(

well have fun everybody...and maybe i can catch the next one!

krazypoodle 09/10/2007 #

This is an awesome swap idea! I haven't completed 20 swaps, yet but I'm on my way. I should have the required amount by the time the sign-up deadline rolls around. Better get some more swap packages in the mail!!

boxsquat 09/10/2007 #

i am so excited. i will be sure to contact my partner so she can start sending them to a different address as week before christmas because i will be home for a month between college and 2nd semester. i hope it isn't a hassle, the shipping amount shouldn't change unless you live in indiana or illionis.

LINBUR0100 09/11/2007 #

oh how i wish I could join this swap. But I'm in the middle of a condo search and things are just too hectic for me right now. Hope you guys have fun.

limetteandlove 09/14/2007 #

I'm almost near 20 swaps as well, so hopefully I'll have enough by the time this swap starts.

I think I'd just be so excited to open up a package only to find 25 little ones in it!!

DaintyDaisy 09/21/2007 #

Does anyone know how much shipping might cost? or what rates are? this sounds super cool, but i want to see if i can afford it. And.... i think i have exactly 20 swaps.

YooperHill 09/21/2007 #

I'd check the rate on a priority flat rate box (if they still have them!) You should be able to fit everything in one of those....

kgeslab 09/24/2007 #

It costs $8.50 I think for the box and can go anywhere in the USA. I can't wait to get my partner!

sarachattom 09/26/2007 #

Hey - my birthday happens to be December 25th! Just so you know, wink wink.

lilkye 09/27/2007 #

I know...I have a no send right now....I miss packaged and it is back out....It will be resolved before the deadline, but do I understand you will make final decisions before assigning pt.'s... I hope I will still be favorably considered once my ratings have been resolved....

-Kye

Wrenja 09/30/2007 #

I wish I could join, but I don't know that I could rock out 20 swaps by the close date. Oh well :[

sarachattom 10/ 1/2007 #

This was such a great idea that I set one for the kids, US only.

http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/8000

Hawaiiangirl 10/ 1/2007 #

I had to drop--looks like I will not have the 20 ratings needed by the 24th, but I decided to set up one for those with at least 5 ratings or more (US only). It is at:

http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/8008

2ndstar 10/ 1/2007 #

I love this swap! I don't have enough swaps to participate, so I hope you do this again next year!

DaintyDaisy 10/ 8/2007 #

Do you need to just be rated 20 times? Or rated at least once on 20 different swaps?

Butterfly 10/10/2007 #

I'm pretty sure it means 20 separate swaps.

FarStarr 10/11/2007 #

I'm so excited! I have picked out a few things, but will wait to get my partners to get more.

YooperHill 10/13/2007 #

No, just 20 ratings

FarStarr 10/25/2007 #

Thanks for assigning so quickly, yooperhill...I'm on the hunt now for fabulous Christmas goodies!

123Poggy123 10/29/2007 #

I mailed my box today & because of the cost involved, I am having my partner sign for it. Sorry, but I think it was a necessary evil. I really hope she likes what I have sent. I had a blast shopping for her.

Cnvingltlbtch 10/31/2007 #

I have my box all packaged up and ready to ship tomorrow. I had so much putting it together. This swap was such a great idea.

YooperHill 11/ 4/2007 #

My package is in the mail. I also banned someone by accident, and did a one on one swap with her...so I am expecting two packages! Yippee!

FarStarr 11/ 6/2007 #

Wow! My presents arrived yesterday...the suspense is killing me! ;)

grandmaroro 11/ 8/2007 #

Yooper - Your package arrived today. A couple of the envelopes were bent, sure hope it doesn't hurt anything. Does it matter in what order they are opened? I plan to number my gifts just because I have a cool idea for the labels. This has been so much fun. I've hit every Christmas bazaar that I can. If this comes around again next year, I sure hope I am able to play again.

Now --- all I have to do is wwwaaaiiittt for December ONE.

redwing480 11/ 9/2007 #

I've received my box of goodies, boy December can't come soon enough...open, open, open, (like the old Mervyn's commercial)

Christina 11/ 9/2007 #

But Kim--Is your face pressed to the box like people would press their faces to the door in the Mervyn's commercial?

redwing480 11/ 9/2007 #

I'd really rather not say (lol)

KerrWriter 11/11/2007 #

I think I got carried away :) Mine definitely won't fit in a flat rate box. Someone is going to be very spoiled!

jstubbs 11/11/2007 #

I too got carried away ... will fit in 2 flat rate boxes. I hope they feel very spoiled! He he he, had so much fun!!

nicole 11/13/2007 #

Oh dear... i am already to the top of a flat rate box.. and i still have a couple more items to get that i am picking up today on my lunch break!!

Here's to finding a bigger box! LOL!

FarStarr 11/13/2007 #

I had to find a bigger box too! I'm still in the process of wrapping and numbering. The problem is that I want to be there when my partner opens her presents..:)

grandmaroro 11/13/2007 #

Oh, WOW, this is soooooo much fun. I will get mine wrapped, numbered, and mailed tomorrow. DD is coming to help. Thanks,

Paula 11/14/2007 #

I mailed mine today. The stuff wouldn't fit in a flat rate box, so I sent it parcel post. It'll still arrive in plenty of time for the first opening day. Sometimes little gifts aren't physically little. ;)

If the recipient happens to come back here and ask, the order of opening does not matter. There are two exceptions, and they both have different colored wrapping paper than the rest and big tags with the correct date for opening on them. I hope you enjoy your gifts. It was a lot of fun to assemble them.

tamipal6 11/14/2007 #

Goodies are on the way to boxsquat! :)

FarStarr 11/15/2007 #

Tripleplay, Christmas prizes are on their way!!

DaintyDaisy 11/15/2007 #

Joy, your Christmas surprises are on their way!

cbzcando 11/15/2007 #

jstubbs, two boxes on their way to you. Enjoy!

grandmaroro 11/16/2007 #

WOW - Let's hear it for the United States Postal System. I mailed my package on 11/14 and was notified today that it had reached it's destination. Good Going USPS.

cmhatcstamper 11/20/2007 #

DaintyDaisy-you should be receiving your pkg any day now:) Thanks to Sarachattom-I received my pkg from you yesterday! I can't wait to start:) Kudos to our swap hostess YooperHill for an incredible swap!!! Chris H.

YooperHill 11/24/2007 #

Grandmaroro - You can open them in any order. There is one marked for christmas day.

YooperHill 11/24/2007 #

Boo Hoo!

It looks like I am gonna get flaked on! My partner is behind in 13 swaps, has been off line for about 5 days non communicato.

There is one other swapper I am concerned about, her partner is behind in about 5 swaps!

Boo Hoo, Boo Hoo!!!!

Zanara 11/26/2007 #

Do we still need "angels"? I was thinking that we could split each person (who needs to be "angeled") into two. That way we would lesson the cost of the swap for the angels. One angel could whip up a package for Dec 1-12 and have it in the mail asap, while the second partner does 13-25 and they could take a little while longer to put it together and get it shipped. What does everybody think? I would be happy to help out.

Christina 11/26/2007 #

Zanara--I think that sounds like a fantastic idea, IF we have enough volunteers to cover...(I'm piping up because I volunteered, it was Yooper's "Christmas Spirit" email that got me...)

YooperHill 11/27/2007 #

Thank you soooo much!

After the email went out, a lot was cleared up.

I think I am covered by citty.

I am waiting to hear back from asmom to see if she has heard from her partner. I am willing to angel her if there is a problem.

Other than that, I think we are covered! I just checked and we have 4 "not sent", and I believe in the end it will be me, and possible asmom left out in the cold - but covered!!!

I hope it all goes according to my "master dream!" Thanks again for your ideas!

YooperHill 11/29/2007 #

I angeled Asmoms swap from JOJO. I hope JOJO is OK. No one has heard from her.

Citty sent me MandyNoels swap since MandyNoel is MIA and has a strange address on her profile.

All should be cool now for a fun filled "opening" day!

Thanks to everyone for participating!

Christina 11/30/2007 #

You know that we are all going to be on here every day after we open something! :) How excited is everyone for tomorrow? :)

Paula 11/30/2007 #

I'm sad. I was looking forward to having something to open starting tomorrow. The list shows my stuff having been sent, but it definitely isn't here. ::sniffle::

YooperHill 12/ 1/2007 #

Paula - please see my PM to you. Here is a hanky....

nicole 12/ 1/2007 #

Woohooo! DAY ONE!

Paula 12/ 1/2007 #

Thanks for the hanky. My partner assured me that my package will be here on Monday (well, that's what USPS told her). I'll get to open three in one day, that should be fun. ;)

Paula 12/ 1/2007 #

All is well. See it here . Thank you, Sherry!

YooperHill 12/ 1/2007 #

I accidently banned a person I should not have before asigning partners. I told her I would do a private swap with her just like this one. Soooooooo although I am still waiting for my "angel" package from THIS swap, I did open package 1 of the private swap.

It was a very cool, clutch purse. The yarn is sooooooo soft. I love, love, love anything handmade!

FarStarr 12/ 2/2007 #

Yeehaw! I've opened 2 and I'm headed in to give my partner a heart. Thanks Yooperhill, this is so much fun!

Christina 12/ 7/2007 #

Everyone having fun???? We must be quiet because we are ooohhhing over our packages??? :) I want to hear how everyone is doing...I'll start....honeyspur has been fattening me up this week...chocolate, cheese, wine, nuts...mmmmm

YooperHill 12/ 7/2007 #

Wine!!!! Whine................

KerrWriter 12/ 8/2007 #

Mine arrived, a little late, but still a nice package. I'm having fun opening the little goodies and think this is my all-time favorite swap. I will definitely want to do this again next year!

KerrWriter 12/ 8/2007 #

swap concept that is. i really like the concept of this swap and plan to do it again next year.

litspec 12/10/2007 #

Gotta share the loot so far...

reindeer paper garland
peppermint chocolate bark
caramel cappuccino bath gel
Busy Bee honey
gingerbread man soap
Republic of Tea travel tin (my favorite brand, how did you know?)

Thanks a million, Suzapalooza! I'm lovin' every minute of it. :)

123Poggy123 12/11/2007 #

I am having a blast opening up one

123Poggy123 12/11/2007 #

Oops. Don't know what I hit on my last post. Will try again.
I am having a blast opening one and only one gift a day.

FarStarr 12/11/2007 #

I'm behaving too ;)..one a day..whoo hooo!!!

YooperHill 12/15/2007 #

CMhatCSstampers is so wonderful!

I received a lovely "Thank You" package for hostessing the 25 days of Christmas swap. She is too kind!

I loved EVERYTHING in the package and had so much fun opening it! She sent a candy cane pencil with swap-bot printed on it. FUN! FUN! I REALLY loved one of the smallest things...the blue glitter in the tiny jar with stars in it! I just love to look at it!

The bits of art pieces, blue foil embelishments, note cards, atc blanks, metal findings, tiny book...all made my heart sing!

I also really loved getting her handmade ornament. I was looking at it last night on the blog for the arful christmas swap we are both in! I think it is so cool that she sent me one, even though we are in differnt groups.

Your kindness touched me! Thank you and a very Merry Christmas!

Hugs, Yoop

Cookstar34 07/17/2008 #
