This is my first swap hosting ;)

Okay, so here's the deal. I've been seeing a lot of banned books swaps and 100 books to read swap. So I thought it would be interesting to read someone's favorite book.

You get one partner. To this partner you will send one book that you like to read over and over again. Any kind of book of any genre. Hardcover or softcover, doesn't matter.

Your partner can list one genre below of a book that they absolutely do NOT want to receive. For instance, if the person does not like political books they would list that.

You can tailor the book to your partner's profile. Say, if they have kids, maybe send your favorite children's book.

Some examples of genres are: romance, science fiction, historical fiction, horror, Christian, non-fiction, etc...

I, personally, am going to go to a very nice used books store called Half Price Books. I would not buy a book in a condition that I would not want to read. So, if the book has missing, ripped pages or is going to fall apart, is written in, don't send it. You can aim for hearts and send more than one book.

Anyone with a rating of 4.6 or higher. Any no-sends in the last three months, PM me. I will ban anyone who looks sketchy to me. And, if you notice someone on the list who is notorious for not-sending, let me know! Newbies are welcome but please fill out your profiles and message me! I will check.

This is international since I figure that the cost of a book to send shouldn't be that much.

Any questions? Happy swapping!

What a great idea!

My most-disliked genre: Christian Inspiration/Flaky New Age (like The Secret)

arosea 09/23/2007 #

My most disliked genre is the type of books that Nicholas Sparks like.

arosea 09/24/2007 #

...errr...that he writes!

Although I read political books, I wouldn't want to get one through this swap because I'm so picky about which ones I'll read.

The only books I don't like are gory horror kind of of books.

I wonder- if we buy a book online for our person (like from half.com or something), can we get it shipped directly to them (to save on shipping)?

arosea 10/ 7/2007 #

Sure! That sounds like a good idea, Arylkin.

the type of books I detest are the romance books. everything else is ok, but the type I love the most are true crime books. If you prefer, you can send a used book, I don't care if it has a goodwill price tag on it.

i don't know that there is a book type i don't like. i'm not big on historical stuff, but i do like historical fiction and modern biographies.
mostly prefer romance and science fiction/fantasy. would prefer not to get a book that is a volume in a series, as then i'll be scrambling for the rest of it if i like it.

I'll read just about anything. What a fun swap!

I read everything and anything. I also currently own very few books (besides Austen & LKH) due to a moving incident, so don't worry about duplicates.

It is a fun swap indeed! I posted off my book today (to the US from London) so I hope it will get there soon xx
