Description:

I have a lot of lone skeins of yarns lying around, and I thought it would be a fun idea to have a swap where we have to use one skein of yarn to make something for our partner.

No matter what, you can NOT go over that 1 skein. The requirement for this swap is 1 skein=one 1 project. However, the 1 project can be made up of multiple parts (like 4 coasters or 2 socks). And you can make multiple projects out of 1 skein (like 2 dishcloths or 2 socks).

But you can't use 2 skeins to make a full scarf!

Of course, if you are feeling overly ambitious, you may use 2 skeins and make 2 SEPARATE projects. Like 2 SEPARATE scarves. But that's just if you get bored and want to make more. Not a requirement.

Make sense? Maybe not.

Whatever your complete project is, it must be made out of 1 skein or less. (Hopefully that's clear.)

There is no fibre type requirement, but please don't send something to your partner that they’d be allergic too. (And in turn, if you have a particular allergy, go ahead and post it!)

And don't just send your partner a skein of yarn. You actually have to MAKE something with it.

Uh, other requirements... this is international. If you look sketchy or I have any questions about your rating history, I will message and/or ban you. (My swap, my rules! Wakakakaka!)

I can't wait to knit! Be sure to check out my swap - My Favorite Free Knitting Pattern! Maybe you'll get a pattern that takes one skein in time to knit for your partner?!?

On one of the items I've justmade..I had to use a few centimeters of another colour, to do a nose & mouth feature. Hope this doesn't go against the rules.

I say it counts and you're fine ;)

Cooan, does this have to be knit, or can we crochet?

Amandalee 10/26/2007 #

Nevermind, I saw in the catagories that I am good to go :) Signing up now, thanks for hosting :)

How fun! I love milking a skein for all I can get out of it.

PS - I have no allergies to report. :)

Very excited for this swap! No allergies here either!

Just to be safe, what do you count for one skein? It is possible to buy 50 gr and 100 gr and 150 gr skeins but the 50 gr are most usual. Is that ok or is supposed to use 100 gr skein for the case.

50gs are just fine! :) That's what I use. Of course, if you have a 100g skein, go ahead and use that. But 50s are more than acceptable!
