Description:

I discovered recently that January 3 is "Memento Mori Day", a valuable piece of info for a creepifile like myself! How apt to celebrate the end of things so soon after the glorious celebration of new beginnings. I hope some other dark folks will crawl out of the corners for this Creepy Lucky Parcel Swap.

A Lucky Parcel is well known on the "Bot as being a collection of items that will make your partner happy, sometimes centered around a theme. The theme here is CREEPY. Think dark, gothic, Halloween, skellies, ravens, zombies, graves, victorian, black, witchies, wicked faeries, full moons, you get the picture. Send your partner at least 2 items that fit this category, or a bunch of creepy things, as long as your package is worth at least $10. Handmade or storebought or preferably both. SENDER"S CHOICE, but please peruse your partner's profile for best results.

USA only due to postage. :O( SUPER swappers with at least 10 serious package swaps and consistent ratings of 4.9. NO newbies. PM me if you don't fit this requirement. Flakers will be flogged publicly, but I intend to weed them out and flog them privately first.

"Memento mori" is a Latin phrase that means "Remember your mortality." In other words, remember that one day you will die. Memento Mori Day was started in ancient Rome (wasn't everything great started there?) when a servant reminded his general that, even though he was successful that day, he could very well die the next day and lose everything he'd had on earth.

The theme of Memento Mori Day is found in the Bible, in Isaiah 22:13. "'Let us eat and drink,' you say, 'for tomorrow we die!'"

@Kraftlady777 -Since you're crafty, that'd be where I'd start! Check out some Flickr or Google images for creepy/dark type crafts such as art dolls, jewelry, artwork, etc. -this is a sender's choice swap so you could begin crafting before partners are assigned if you choose to go that route. Check thrift stores, book aisles, toy depts. for things spooky or out of season. Check out your stash for possible Halloweeny objects. When partners are assigned, check out their likes for hints, maybe they collect postcards, ATCs, vintage photos, etc. A little surfing the web will no doubt give you some creepy ideas. :O)

Super fun idea. Here is a few suggestions: Check etsy, they have pendulums, tarot, charms, dolls, etc.....!!!!! Thrift shops for gently used items, and see if there is a witchy type store in your area, lucky eight balls, ouja boards, the possibilities are endless. Toys' r' us and Walmart even sells these neat gothic cloth dolls with button eyes for right around $10, and online you can find Night of the Living Dead dolls. I love those things. Good luck finding things everyone. Hope that helps some.
