Description:

In Sweden we have something called minnespoststämplar (for example: http://www.posten.se/c/minnespoststamplar) and I am pretty sure you do have them in other countries too.

In this swap you will send one postcard to two people that has a special postalmark on them. No hand-made cards. No ad cards. If suitable I would love if you could match the postcard you send with the special postalmark. March 26 is the last date you should send your postcard to get re-mailed. Try to get the re-mailing date sooner than later, so your partner doesnt have to wait until August for that special postmark. :-)

Since this is the first time I do a special postmark swap I would ask you to communicate with eachother on this swap, if the swap takes longer time than usual. Since the postcard is first sent somewhere else to get that stamp, it might take a while before it reaches you.

In Sweden the postoffice has a webpage where I can see what postmarks are coming up and even get my postcards stamped within a year after that date. I am not sure how it works in other countries. In USA I think it is maybe called re-mailing: I found this about St. Patricks day: http://www.usps.com/postalhistory/_pdf/POnamesStPatricks.pdf#search='re-mailing'

This is the first time I am hosting a swap, so if there is some things that are not clear, please let me know. And if you learn about stuff re. postalmarks/re-mailing that might benefit others, please don't hesitate to make a comment :-)

Good luck on your first host hannaahl, this sounds like a good idea. I would suggest that other swappers who are interested, go ask their post office if they have a postal stamp for their ciy (the bigger urban centres often have one in the main postal outlet - at least I know that ours does... but only the postal nerds ever know about it.) I am excited to go ask them to use it on mine now!

Unless you live in the city offering the postmark in the US, this would be hard to do in 4 days. You have to send the card pre-stamped and addressed in an envelope to the Postmaster in whichever city has the PO offering a special postmark. The Postmaster will postmark it and then send it on to the address specified on the card. A person could mark that they sent it to the Postmaster but wouldn't know when he/she sent it to the swap partner.

Thanks for your suggestions @naynay I have edited the information so I hope it will be clearer and also extended the date to when they have to be mailed.

I found information about pictorial postmarks as they are also called: http://www.usps.com/cpim/ftp/bulletin/2011/pb22305/html/info_011.html

It seems like a very interesting swap, Hannaahl! I'm off to our post office to see what Canada has in different postmarks. I'm fairly sure they exist.
