Description:

If you're like me, you love receiving surprises in the mail. This is a five week long swap. For this swap every week for four weeks you will send your partner a small craft related surprise (ie nice paper scraps or pieces, fibers, buttons, brads, used stamps, stickers [no childish, religious, ugly, bent, folded], paper ephemera [tickets, clippings, foreign language text, stuff from your own area your partner might not see, etc], or anything else that you think your partner might like. If participants have specific things they like or don't like please post a message here. Do not send crap stuff--dirty, bent, damaged, etc. Send stuff you might like to receive. Don't spend a lot of money--a envelope weighing a couple of ounces is sufficient. For the final week, you will reveal yourself to your partner and send a 6x9 envelope of all kinds of goodies. Please be faithful and do not sign up for this swap if you cannot send something all 5 weeks as I will not be able to angel any swaps, not knowing who the partners will be.

I am looking forward to this swap. For my partner some things I like are: retro; vintage; classic art; architecture; colors red, blue, tans; embellishments Metals, cats, dogs and rabbits, ribbons

Some things I do not like are: bright colors; anything related to children; nudes, anything r or x rated

I hope the other partners will post their likes and dislikes so we know what to send!!

My likes are pretty much listed in my profile. May I also add that things that sparkle and/or glitter & shine, rate high on my list as well. I am currently in search of items to use to illustrate a book I am making for a friend with the theme of: In the Garden. If you have any snips of green papers, fabrics, or ribbons sitting around I am trying to collect some. In truth, I will truly be happy with anything I get. LOVE the idea of small weekly surprises. Lets get artfull!! Laura (Lark 2006)

Ooh, this sounds really fun! :-) Anyway, I stay In sunny Singapore so packages takes about 8 weeks to arrive :l So sorry to whoever my partner is. But well, I'll promise to send it on time and as early, so you can receive it on time :D

Just for my partner, I do alot of childrens' illustration and lots of little hand stitching :-) Check out handmadelove.livejournal.com for more snippets of what I do.

Things that makes me smile in glee: Horses or pony related stuff! papers or cotton fabrics with vintage or clean simple repeated patterns, childrens' storybooks ( fav writer includes Roald Dahl), red and aqua, moleskin notebooks, coloured pens and anything fish or bird related.

Things that make me go hmmmmm: slugs worms and all things slimy, neons, furry or glitter overloaded stuff, and I don't quite fancy purple. haha :D

Happy swapping people!

thanks to all who have left comments thus far. I hope it's understood that packages coming from other countries may take a little time to get there. But it'll get there eventually!

This sounds like a great swap. I'm always finding things that would be great for artwork but can't keep everything I find. I'd love to pass things along to someone else. I hope the person I am matched with has posted what they like/don't like or has information in their profile so I can send my partner something he/she enjoys.
I love being able to use items from nature in my artwork -- seeds, leaves, sand, pebbles, etc. I also love using beads, fibers, and charms. I love photos of nature, too.
I do not like "vintage" or Asian-themed items. I like modern, real images rather than drawings or cartoons.

To my Crafty Secret Pal,

I think I may have confused you with my Secret Sister swap pal! I received 2 envelopes from you and you signed them SS so I thought that meant Secret Sister.

My swap buddy over at Secret Sister is very confused now because I've thanked her twice for packages she never sent!

So, now I thank you, Crafty Secret Pal, I have two envelopes filled with crafty goodness that I can experiement with. I've never really done paper crafts before. My plans are to try to do an ATC or to embellish some Moleskin journals I have.

I'll post pictures on my blog when I get it done.

AshleyShea 10/11/2006 #

I mailed out package 3 today. I hope my partner has received my packages. Nothing has arrived yet from my partner, but I had an address change which may be holding up things.

deedeenet 10/11/2006 #

Hello Crafty Secret Pal,

I wanted to tell you that I bought a special journal to try out my new talents with your gifts. I bought a small sized moleskin journal. I'll post the pictures of what I've done on my blog so you can see my progress!

Thank you! Deborah http://deedeenetblog.blogspot.com/

user3705 10/12/2006 #

Hello: My (not so) secret crafty pal sends items in highly imaginative containers! I've received three already. Thanks much. Mary Barber

P.S. Why not so secret? The return address on the envelope gives it away, I'm afraid ... not a problem for me at all. :)

AshleyShea 10/14/2006 #

I received two packages today. The post office finally decided to forward the packages. Now I have some fun papers and ribbons to play with this weekend. Yippee!

deedeenet 10/14/2006 #

To my crafty secret pal,

Thanks for my 3rd package. It is filled with wonderful buttons, snaps, ribbons, stamps and goodies for me to explore a new craft with.

When this is all done, please share with me your secrets to organization! You are so prompt and thoughtful.

Thank you Deborah

rhodyart 10/15/2006 #

I'm mailing out package #4 to my partner. Hope you like what I'm choosing.

Deborah's comments re organization made me think--I'm not particiuarly organized even though I am a Virgo (lol)--I guess I just know I have to do something and do it. But I am learning to make lists of things I have to do at the young age of 46! lin

AshleyShea 10/19/2006 #

I sent out package number 4 today. I hope they are arriving safe and sound and deliver lots of smiles and inspiration.

deedeenet 10/20/2006 #

My final package is making it's way out to my partner tomorrow. This has been a great swap. I've really enjoyed it. I hope my partner has, too.

deedeenet 10/26/2006 #

Dear Swap Sister,

Thank you for your very generous envelope filled with loads of stuff! Thank you also for understanding my total lack of awareness with paper crafting and the confusion I had about what I was to do with the treats you sent, I'm a knitter and I've never done ATCs or scrapbooks.

Deborah

AshleyShea 10/29/2006 #

I received an amazing package of charms yesterday. Wow! My secret crafty partner spoiled me with great presents. Thank you so much! In a swap like this, I wish I could give more than 1 perfect rating.
