Description: | |
Those of us to who knit, crochet, weave, spin or otherwise engage in fibre-ly pursuits often find ourselves with small amounts of leftover luxury yarns that we just don't know what to do with. Not enough to make a project with, too much to just toss, what do we do with them? We hold onto them hoping to use them up in little projects we haven't thought of yet, add them to an existing project, or just because we can't bear to throw them away. Sometimes we do use them up, sometimes we just don't know what to do with them. Maybe you're luxury odds and ends could use a fresh pair of eyes looking at them and figuring out what to do with them. So why not swap with somone? Maybe their garbage will be your treasure, and if not, at least your not any worse off than you were before. In this swap you will send your partner an assortment of luxury yarn scraps. I'll leave the amount up to you, but be generous and aim for the equivalent of at least a 100 gr ball of yarn. (Perhaps your scrap is a ball of yarn, or maybe its several little bobbins only a few yards long each - it's all good!). A note about luxury: we all have different fibre tastes. What do I mean by luxury? I'm thinking higher-end fibres here. It's hard to say where to draw the line, but here are some examples. Alpaca, llama, mohair, angora, silk, recycled silk, art yarns, hand-dyed or hand-spun wool, organic wool, bamboo, banana silk, etc. These are luxury fibres. Is wool a luxury fibre? It depends. An organic merino probably counts, Patons classic wool probably doesn't. Please post in the comments if you have any fiber allergies (and please check when sending), but since this is a stash-buster swap, be aware that your partner has limited items to work with and don't hold it against them if they include something less-than-perfect. If you've got lots of yarn to de-stash, feel free to go wild here, just be concious of the cost of posting your package. Similarly, I have left this swap open for USA-Canada to keep postal costs down, but if you're outside that area and really want to join, send me a message and I'll see what I can do. If you've got 'luxury' notions kicking around as well that you don't think you'll use, feel free to toss them in there to! Happy yarn swapping! I've not opened this swap to newbies, but if you're a newbie and want in, send me a message and we'll see if we can work something out. |
