Description:

I love black-and-white photography; perhaps you do, too? Here's a swap that will encourage us to pick up our cameras, look at the world in shades of grey, and show each other what we see!

For this swap you'll have 5 partners, and you'll send each partner 3 black-and-white photos taken by you plus a short letter about the photos.

The photos can have any subject and be any size. Just please send photos printed on photo paper (matte or glossy), whether you produce them at home or have them reproduced commercially.

Use any kind of camera you like, and remember that it's easy to convert digital color pictures to black-and-white using photo editing software. (For instance, it's one click of a button on Picasa, which is downloadable from Google for free.)

Other details: 1) Newbies are welcome. 2) Swappers with a rating below 4.85 will be dropped before partners are assigned. 3) This is an international swap.

Also: I'll be unable to access swapbot from 1/2 to 1/6, so I'll respond to any questions/comments posted during that period once I'm back online.

And finally: thanks for signing up, and have fun!

Hey, I found the title of this swap interesting and then I read the description. 5 partners and 3 photos each? That's 15 photos and its international, this is one costly swap! I work with my darkroom at school so I am hoping that you create another similar swap in the future but maybe with less partners? Let me know!

Hey, novolaras (or anyone)--Feel free to start a similar swap with fewer photos, fewer partners, or US-only if you'd like to make it less costly. I wanted to host something that kind of lives up to the word "bonanza"--hence the higher number of partners and photos--but I wouldn't be offended if someone wanted to host a similar, smaller swap!

Ah thanks for the comment and replying so promptly! Thank you for the heads up and for letting others have another option of doing this. I will probably start a more cost efficient one then, but not until next year, until I get all my other big swaps out of the way. I am also glad that there are people who have a greater love for black and white photography in general :)

I sent mine out earlier this week & just received my first batch today.... I'm glad that everyone seems to be having a good time! I think regular (or regular-ish) black-and-white swaps would be fun, so if anyone's up for coordinating another one soon, you can count me "in."

oooh, i might throw one together once this one is complete for me. i am waiting to receive one, which was mailed but seems may (hopefully may not) have disappeared! and i am waiting for a rating from a partner who has been unresponsive. (i just sent again to that partner, she has never written back to my email or pm so i sent just to be on the safe side.) when it's all wrapped up i will host and black & white bonanza (and i just got an idea for a little bit of a twist!) yay! woot! woo! (doing happy little dance, having co-workers stare strangely at me...)
