Description:
This swap is for two handmade 100% cotton dishcloths. They can either be knit or crochet. You will have one partner and will make two cloths. There are many free patterns available if you search the web. Do no wait for partners to be assigned. Choose any pattern and color of cotton yarn you would like and get started right away. Cotton yarn can be found at Joann's, Hobby Lobby, and Michael's and possibly at your local yarn shops. If you spend a night or two in front of the tv you could easily get both dishcloths done in a couple of days. This is not an expensive swap to complete. Please do not use designer cotton yarns for this project. Theses dishcloths are meant to be useful and durable. I will ban you from this swap if you flaked out or caused any heartbreaks with swappers in my first or second dishcloth swap. Call me a meanie, I'm used to it, I hear it from my 5 yo everyday. If you're a newbie and want to join you must have a completed profile. I do spend the time to read them and I visit blogs and websites. We will be swapping close to Saint Patrick's Day, so don't forget to put in something lucky or green for your partner to help you earn hearts. This is a US only swap.

I am new to swaps in general and dishcloth swaps in particular. Can someone tell me if its usual to wash the cloth before sending? Washing helps even out the knitting but, honestly, it also dulls the "newness" of the cotton. Would a quick handwash serve both purposes? (there's something funny about handwashing a dishcloth)

In my opinion, for what it's worth, I think a nice handwashing and blocking would be extra nice. Good question.

This will be fun--I bought one of those absurdly BIG cones of bright cotton--I am sick of the same color over and over in my cloth drawer!!--Now I can make some new to trade for some variation!! COUNT ME IN BIG TIME!!

I'm a newbie and totally addicted to knitting dishcloths. I usually send them off to charities and little extras in gifts to family and friends. I have TONS of patterns and peaches and cream to choose from in my stash and plenty of free time for knitting. If anyone is looking for a pattern, the Annie's Attic Free Pattern of the day today is.... ***drum roll puleeese!**** Scrubby dishclothes!!! Here's the link: http://www.anniesattic.com/free_pattern_day/index.html The pattern requires nylon thread and I've never bought that before, but will look next time I'm out shopping for yarn supplies since I've already finished my two dishclothes. If anyone knows a good source for nylon thread, please let me know. Thanks!
