Hello!
I'm a college drop-out, a laughably bad dancer (but I'm working on it!!), a violin player, an occasional runner, and a girl with a very, very messy room.
I'm learning to play guitar because I want to be able to lead people in making music together, especially kids. I think that a lot of people nowadays have forgotten that creative expression is a really important part of life for EVERYONE, not just so-called "creative geniuses". We are all creative, because we are made in the image of a creative God! With my life, I want to learn as much as I can about making music and art so that I can share what I've learned with other people and encourage them to create as well.
Some other things that matter a lot to me are 1) taking care of the earth and 2) doing my best to eat local organic food. I can't wait for this spring because I am going to have a community garden with some of my friends!
Some of my favorite things are National Public Radio, home-made fruit smoothies, my cat Theo, Earl Grey tea, my cowgirl boots, thunderstorms, Sharpies in lots of different colors, my curly-crazy hair, and the smell of the woods.
Harriet the Spy, Wise Blood, Jayber Crow, The Poky Little Puppy, Harold and the Purple Crayon, Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day, On Writing Well by William Zinsser, most non-fiction by Dorothy Sayers
Fleet Foxes, The Avett Brothers, Lindsey Lou and the Flatbellies, Balkan Beat Box, The Detroit Hot Club, The San Francisco Hot Club, Stephane Grapelli, Ray LaMontagne, Hilary Hahn, Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma
Knitting, embroidering, art journaling, drawing
