About Me
Things I love:
Our house in the woods, quiet, peaceful and cool in the summer.
Animals – especially cats. We also have chickens, and I enjoy watching the rooster strut around the yard.
Water – swimming in the ocean, snorkeling with the fish, listening to a babbling brook.
Quilting – my passion. I love all kinds of quilts. I’ve recently started making more abstract, contemporary quilts and embellishing wall hangings. I like fabric postcards.
Travel – We usually vacation in South America, where year after year I struggle with the Spanish. I was also in the Peace Corps in West Africa for two years and have been many other places.
Music – Neil Young, Tracy Chapman, Bob Marley, among others.
Colors –I’m drawn to the colors and textures you might find on a walk through a forest or meadow.
Other things – unusual spices, buttons, beads, fabric, found objects with a story, scraps of leather and unusual fabrics useful in collages, photographs, primitive art, unusual paper, journals, and just about anything that shows some thought was put into it.
Comment: holy cow Deb!!!! it was my birthday yesterday and i received your gift. what a pleasant surprise. i absolutely adore all of the items and your description as to why you chose them for me. stunning and thoughtful. Once his choice was made, Shackleton saw his commitments through to the end. I am blessed and your gifts are unmatched. Thank you! xo
Comment: Deb, I trecked a half a mile up a snowy road, a mile through snow up to my knees, and back again to get to my mailbox to pick up your wonderful postcard. And that is the absolute truth!!! We got hit with 2 snowstorms in the last week with a total of over 2 feet of snow. My husband is bravely tring to get us plowed out, but it will be at least one more day. So I walked. Luckily it was warm out, about 24, and just right for trekking through the snow. There were lots of coyote tracks too.
But your lovely card made it all worthwhile!!! The verse on the back was perfectly chosen and was my inspiration for the day.I love it when people really are inspired by profiles. I could go on and on. This swap was so much fun to give and receive!!!
Comment: Wow- such beautiful work. I love! the moon card and it was so very thoughtful to include a CD with the full lyrics- just in case I didn't know the songs.
Comment: Hi, Deb, I really enjoyed getting your green atc's. You did a great job. I also enjoyed your letter. I read your profile and we do have a lot in common.
Our grandson from Guatemala is a loving beautjiful child. He just turned 2 and is in to everything, but always has a smile on his face - except when he doesn't get his way.
We went to Costa Rica about 3 years ago and loved it = We did have a problem with the language- I had basic Spanish in college, but I broke my leg and no one spoke Engish. It was a beautiful country, but our trip ended too soon. Interesting experience.
What will we watch now that all our programs have ended for the year. Maybe I won't feel such an urgency to get home to see the shows. It is amazing how addictive they can be.
thanks again for the great atc's. Hope we swap again.
Comment: Thanks for the cd! The included booklet is awesome and I love the fact that you included the words as well as the reasoning for selecting the songs. Your photos are great too!! I would give more hearts if I could!!
Response: Thank you! I enjoyed putting that booklet together. Often, reading the lyrics is helpful.
Comment: Wow! Such lovely cards - no way am I sending these to anyone. I particularly love the Asian Lady one. The bonus one really made me smile - so nice of you to personalise it as you did.
Hi! I just wanted to drop you a little note and tell you how much I (and Gigi) are still loving the cat quilt you sent her in the Pink&Brown swap. It is on the foot of my bed where her little bed is and she sleeps there every night.
Hi. I'm glad you liked the Scavenger Hunt CD. I figure that anybody who's 20 something or even 30 something would hate it, so I'm glad it went to somebody my age!! I got 2 CDs from people who are, well, YOUNGER, and I recognize THREE artists out of them both. Now that is pathetic!! I stopped listening to new music a few decades ago. Cripes.
Where you live sounds wonderful. I went to Ogunquit, ME last year and I'm going again next summer. I had 9 lobsters in 7 days. Do you think maybe that's a bit excessive?
