I'm 23 and I'm from the UK, fairly close to London if that helps! I'm vegetarian and love animals, I'm the proud owner of three! My first is The Captain, who is some kind of cross between and English Spot and a lop so he has permanent goofy helicopter ears! I also have Mr. Beauregard Jingles who is half Blanc de Hotot, and was bullied by his friend and then returned. Finally I have a two year old lionhead who is called Trash Panda due to her punky haircut. They all live together inside my home and I love them very much!
I tend to prefer not to receive edible gifts due to various dietary restrictions, particularly around animal products. My favourite animals are pandas, anteaters, bunnies, cats, red pandas, raccoons. I'm also incredibly fond of mythical creatures like Jackalopes and Wolpertingers. I love receiving animal themed items; they don't have to be related to crafting, I enjoy using small plastic animals as props in my house plants!
My main craft passion is scrap-booking; I have been doing it for around eight or nine years now and consequently have filled up a rather large collection of books! I'm attempting to get better at working with polymer clay and needle felting also, but that will definitely take some more practice. I already own lots of papers which I'm trying to de-stash, and so prefer to receive things like buttons, stickers, ribbon, card-toppers, junk ephemera (like scrabble tiles).
I seem to spend quite a lot of my time drinking in pubs and bars, or interacting with animals, so therefore I get through a lot of supplies related to these when doing my pages. Anything that is themed around travel, alcohol or animals is always gratefully accepted!
I enjoy things that are cute and, but they can have a creepy element to them; when I'm doing my scrapbook some pages might be rolled in glitter, some might have red paint imitating blood flicked all over them! Good examples of artists I love who work in this style are: -Junko Mizuno -Frank Kozik Jessica Harrison's Tattooed porcelain ladies -Jeremy Fish -Robin Eisenberg (There's definitely others but they've escaped my memory at the moment!)
Nothing really offends me gore-wise, although I do prefer not to receive anything overtly religious or political. I would describe my personal style as kitsch and tacky; I love things rolled in glitter, bad taste novelty items, ridiculous retro-futurism posters and furniture. I love velvet and brightly coloured faux fur.
I also particularly enjoy the vintage/'old hollywood regency'/palm springs style aesthetic. Big beehives, vintage cadillacs, cheap motels with big neon signs, that kind of thing. It's one of my dreams to stay in The Madonna Inn in California as this sums up all of the garish aspects of the kind of trends I love.
Other artists etc. that I love: -Salvador Dali and other surrealists -Signe Pierce (she's well worth looking up if you haven't heard of her!) -"Bad Taste" artwork such as Joan Cornella, Penelope Gazin etc. -Pretty much anything featured in High Fructose magazine
Things that I enjoy receiving that aren't craft based are: -Enamel Pins (I collect them on my leather jacket) -Patches (for the same reason) -Small plastic/china/glass/stuffed animals -Handmade items -Miniature anything
I have quite a wide variety of tastes in television and music. I'm a fan of things like cult movies like The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Pulp Fiction. I also like the Addams Family, in particular Morticia and Wednesday. Television-wise I tend to watch things such as Bojack Horseman, Adventure Time, We Bare Bears
In particular I like music from the 70's through to the 90's best, with a focus on glam and classic rock; Meat Loaf, David Bowie, INXS, Madness, Kate Bush etc. I also love Country Western unless it get's too political or religious and New Orleans style jazz, as well as folk-indie music such as The Decemberists and Neutral Milk Hotel.
I have a huge passion for literature; it's what I studied at University. My favorite author is Stephen King, but I also enjoy books from the 'American Dream' Beat generation authors, such as Jack Kerouac, Bret Easton Ellis, Hunter S. Thompson. Normal Mailer etc. I love classic Gothic authors such as Poe aswell.
I can't think of much more information to add at the moment as I am still fairly new (join date August) but I'm hoping I'll get more of an idea what to include as I do more swaps!
