Back on swap-bot after a long hiatus!
Cheerful, enthusiastic, optimistic, mildly neurotic, curly-haired, creative gal.
Live in Seattle with my chemistry teacher husband and our tuxedo cat.
Grew up an Air Force brat, moving about every two years.
Studied Anthropology, Linguistics, and German at WSU.
Life-long Girl Scout and avid volunteer. From a girl to a troop leader.
I love animals. I worked with my local Humane Society to help build a dog park and I've rescued every pet I've ever had.
I have always worked in the nonprofit world, usually as a volunteer coordinator.
Activities: Crafting, Board Games, Rock Climbing, Volunteering, Camping.
Books/Authors: The Little Prince, Shel Silverstein, Harry Potter, Dan Brown, Louise Rennison.
TV Shows: Futurama, Pushing Daisies, The West Wing, 30 Rock, Game of Thrones.
Movies: Stranger than Fiction, Little Miss Sunshine, Garden State, Clue, anything Pixar.
Music: Blue-eyed Soul, Pop Punk, Reggae Pop, Classic Rock, Mellow Girly Rock.
I like so many things. If you put yourself into your art, it shows. I'm bound to like any piece with that kind of passion put in. Here are some current fascinations of mine:
Octopi
Hot Air Balloons
Keys
Maps/Globes
Frogs
Steampunk
Vintage & Grunge Looks (Tim Holtz!)
Ironically cute things (e.g. A cartoon zombie girl with a cupcake - Who knew zombies could be cute?!)
Dark humor and themes (as long as it doesn't get really gross)
Pin-up Art!
Adult themes (All for cursing, dirty jokes, and nudity.)
Ancient Egypt
Cultural art and lore from everywhere
Few things will put me off, but I'm not a big fan of these extremes:
TOO cute or girly (I like cute and feminine things, but I'm not five anymore. Except for Lisa Frank, I still have a soft spot for the leopard.)
TOO gory or creepy (Dark is good, but gross without purpose is extra gross.)
TOO religious or political (I like a sprinkling, positive or humorous, but I don't want a campaign sticker, I want art.)
I have always been creative and artsy, only more recently have I discovered the perfect outlet for me, ATCs. I got really into making greeting cards because I enjoy making art for others and ATCs take that sentiment to the next level. I have no limitations of occasions, but instead get to share art for art’s sake. I have been trading ATCs both in-person and online for a three years. I like to try new techniques and mediums, and explore challenging themes that broaden my horizons as an artist.
I will never send anything I wouldn't be delighted to receive. I will never flake. Please PM me if you have any concerns.
I am understanding! I would rather receive something you're proud of that something rushed under a deadline. We all have real lives and sometimes you might lose track of the days. No worries, just give me a heads up PM. It's not about ratings and deadlines - It's about sharing art!
I thank you for a similar understanding!
A little limerick I wrote to help me host swaps:
"The Swapper’s Pledge" To follow the guidelines above, and make something I am proud of. Imagine! Create! Not flake or send late. So my partner can rate with love!
Happy Swapping Everyone! -Heather
