Aloha! I am a new Mom that is settling into a "stay at home" lifestyle after working in the ecology field studying primarily pollination and invasive species. Most recently I cared for my grandfather full time so he could remain at home. It was a humbling~beautiful honor. A few weeks after his passing, my husband got a job offer on the island of Kauai and 6 months later we learned we were expecting our long awaited first child. I plan on returning to Grad School in 2015 to become an Occupational Therapist, specializing in dementia. I'm also very interested in using art and nature therapy in my practice.
I am obsessed with every kind of paper art, and crochet. I'm famous among my family and friends for my homemade cards.
I love color! That said, sometimes nothing compliments beautiful color more than black and white. I am very inspired by nature and organic shapes. I'm a sucker for stencils and print making. Up-cycling is the best thing ever. I'm environmentally minded in general. I don't mind imperfect lines, being able to tell a person made something instead of a machine is always beautiful! I love using hand thrown pottery, although I've never been able to make it myself. I LOVE collecting images. Scissors and a magazine is like meditating for me. I also love the aesthetic of mixed media. Antiqued to futuristic... I'll love to receive anything someone took the time to make!
PLEASE do not send glitter or confetti, or anything that might get all over. Even glued down glitter... it always seems to come off. I have a very active little baby at home, and don't want him eating it off the carpet ;)
I'm not a big sports fan, don't get into Hello Kitty or overly cutesy, kitten on a doily, goose with a bow around it's neck kind of stuff. Don't care for military themes, or being grossed out. However, darker themes are just fine!
But truly, any handmade creation will be appreciated!
IF you happen to have a few extra protective sleeves for ATC's... I'd be so grateful to have them! There is no place on island to get them, and shipping costs literally 10 times the amount of the sleeves themselves if I were to order them online. Also, interesting paper scraps are always welcome for my collages! Many thanks!
