My name is Carrie. I have been happily married for almost 21 years. I have 3 beautiful children (one of them told me about this fabulous site) and 6 wonderful grandchildren. I am a new resident in Minnesota and boy has it been a snowy winter! I am a California native.
My husband and I love to camp. In fact, we went on a 4 month camping trip for our move here. We started in March of 2009 in Florida and camped all the way to Minnesota arriving in July. We camped mostly in State parks for one week at a time. I am proud to say that we only stayed in a hotel 2 nights on the whole four month trip (one was planned and the other was because of a terrible electrical rain storm). We stayed in a tent on an air mattress and we had everything we needed in our Mitsubishi Galant. That was some trip and we have many amazing memories of it.
It is hard for me to pick a favorite when it comes to music. My musical choices are usually determined by my mood or what I am doing at the time. When I do housework I love to listen to Reggae, when I am spending time with my husband we listen mostly to rock. I like going to see bands live and have for many years. The only music I don't really care to listen to is Opera. I guess I just don't get it. Currently I am liking "The Script" and "Trapt". But that is just today, who knows what tomorrow will bring! ; }
Well, just like my music choices, what I read depends on my state of mind in that moment. Right now I am reading as many Nicholas Sparks books as I can get my hands on! I just finished "Nights in Rodanthe" and prior to that I read "The Rescue". I just started "The Wedding". I think when I am done with that I will read some of my old favorite classics like "The Pearl", "Of Mice and Men" and others. The only genre I don't read is Science Fiction. I just don't get it!
Favorite movie of all time is "Mommy Dearest". I think Faye Dunaway did such a fantastic job portraying Joan Crawford. I also love "West Side Story". Other than those two, I just love to watch movies in general. The only kind I don't watch are Horror movies. Well, let me clarify that. I'll watch Stephen King type scary movies but you'll never see me on Elm St. and Jason can keep that mask and that dude with the chainsaw can just stay in Texas for all I care!
"Frasier" has to be my favorite show of all time. That show was so smart and had the best writers ever, in my opinion. I watch way too much tv and have throughout my life. I think I'm one of the few females in America who owns the remote. The only time my husband touches it is when he is handing it to me! LOL
Well, unfortunately I'm not very handy in that department. I crochet a little and I like it very much. I think scrapbooking is amazing but it what little I have tried just looks ridiculous so I stick to my books, music and movies for hobbies!
I love birds, cats and fishes. However, I have none right at the moment. I had a Fisher Lovebird named "Blaze" but he went claws up. I can't have cats because my husband is allergic to them. And fish, although I love to look at them, they are a lot of work for something you can't pet or play with so I just don't bother. I know, goofy huh?!
The number one thing I collect is mushrooms. Anything with mushrooms on it. I have been working on collecting them to decorate my apartment kitchen since September of last year. I especially love the ones from the 60's and 70's.
Other than that, I am not a very picky person and I like all sorts of things. If you need more specifics just let me know and I will be happy to respond.
