I finally hit a thousand fives!
My name is Pat Covington. I am a RETIRED university art professor and administrator ( note the word retired)!
I live in Florida 9 - 10 months of the year because I like to be warm and hate socks. I have to live by water and all that goes with it. I have a home on a salt water basin and love watching the manatees play. We have been having dolphins lately playing and fishing in the basin. Such fun to watch.
I still have a home in southern Illinois (Carbondale/Murphysboro). It is on a lake and quite hot there in the summer. Much hotter than Florida! I go up there in June to remodel anything that I feel needs it and to meet up with our third golden girl. There are three of us. Jamie ( known in swap-bot land as jamnj), dusty, a lawyer who will never retire, and myself. We go everywhere together except dusty stays in illinois in the winter to practice law. She retired as the university's lawyer and now has her own firm. She will be in trial until the day she dies. She is also a big foodie and makes ice cream with liquor in it. We are heading down to Cuba In November for a foodie cruise. I tore my Achilles’s tendon so I will not be walking much. Guess I will be looking out from the balcony! I did watch from the balcony but I was able to get into Havana. Loved it and the people. Would go back in a minute. Spent the entire day in a classic convertible. What fun!
We have two dogs. We lost our cocker suddenly last September. That was a very sad week. I found a Bichon frieze puppy in October. His name is Teddy and a sweetheart. He went up to Illinois to help that broken heart. Dusty, the lawyer, took the cocker everywhere and she was so sad and depressed after her death. Teddy has helped fill that sadness for her. He is such a sweet boy, just what she needed and of course he goes everywhere she goes. Our other dog is a yorkie- poo that thinks she is a Great Dane. The yorkie-poo, Guinny, named because she squeaks when picked up, lives in florida most of the year.
Back to art! I love good design. I am a paper maker but have not done much since I retired from the university. I have been flipping houses and building houses so I have been getting my creative juices working in a different way. I am always remodeling so everyone calls me Sarah Winchester. Interesting character in her own right. She was always remodeling her house to keep ahead of the spirits. There is a recent movie about her.
I love the unusual and the mixing of unlikes is always of interest to me. Natural things are always part of who I am. I also love whimsical applied to normal items. The unexpected is always appreciated. Steam punk is also a favorite. I have degrees in anthropology and art history, so my art takes a slant towards Native American images. Not the typical images, mostly symbolic.
I have been having fun with the ATC's since it is so different than what I use to do. I find myself being whimsical on the ATC when I never would have gone there with my huge paper sculptural pieces. It is good for me. I am also having fun with steam punk and skinnies.
I went to school in Albuquerque and grad school in southern Illinois where I was a professor and an administrator for 33 years. I retired at 56 and have been having a blast ever since. I would recommend retirement to anyone! ( I was a very young professor).
I have had cancer twice, the first time was at 50, the next time I was 63. The second time was from the medicine I took for the first one! They now know that I should never have been given that medicine, but that is how they learn. I am fine except for lymphadema which I control fairly well. Neither cancer was past stage one so I feel very lucky and appreciate every day. I had both knees replaced at the same time almost ten years ago and I am doing fine. Would encourage anyone to do it. My knees were attacked by a drug I took for an infection from breast cancer surgery so they had to be replaced. Don't you just love those drugs! Some are great, others not so much. I had my left shoulder replaced in December 2014. Had the right shoulder replaced in September 2015. Glad all of that is over. Well, it was not over, had to have the left shoulder replaced again, this time with a reverse replacement this April 2016. Going thru security at the airports is interesting to say the least.
I have a great sense of humor and most people laugh at my quick wit (roommate's words). I am a happy person and enjoy doing whatever. I find enjoyment in most things except shopping. I get what I need and I am out of there. My roomie, Jamie, could shop for days . I can wait in the car and keep myself busy! The other roomie, Dusty, goes to the grocery store everyday! Now that is just wrong. We have another roomie, Lynn. She is my brother's ex girl friend. They were together for over twenty years. It is getting crowded here.
I enjoy movies when there is a good one. I travel and have been lucky enough to have seen a lot of the world. Sure does make me appreciate home.
I like card games, dominoes and trivia, word chums and yes that stupid candy crush!
ATC s, Jewelry, metals Paper making, paper clay Making objects from found materials, Actually there aren't too many crafts that I do not like. I am not a knitter, is that a word?
Love whites with color accents. The house in florida has reds and warm woods with lots of white. I actually love all colors. I find the mixing of two unusual colors interesting and fun. Pastels are my least favorite.

I pledge to send my swaps before the deadline. If you do not receive a swap from me, it is lost. I always mail my swaps, so if you do not receive one, please pm me so I can get another one out.
I pledge to rate as soon as I receive your wonderful swap. I love to see what others think of the swap that I sent, so I figure others want to know also. I make my swaps for others, so I believe feedback is the most important aspect of swap-bot.
I do not require extras to give you a heart. I believe that when swappers put their heart into their creation they deserve the same from me.
I will read your profile and will do my best to make the swap about you when I can.

Thanks for finishing the Jam Starter set that I had started the Steampunk theme. It turned out super!
It was a pleasure helping out donetta. She’s such a sweet friend, and I’m glad you like the page! We really do need to do a meet up sometime. Mandymo is here too and she could join us. She’s a high school teacher over in Murphysboro and we’re neighbors in Marion. Take care my friend! Watch out for the hurricane season!
